Those are the ones I'm excited for as well! I'm looking forward to this season more than ever. That trailer was incredible. Thankfully we don't have to wait too much longer for the new season.

If the Bear and the Maiden Fair is what I think it is, then I'm particularly excited for that one. Probably one of my more favorite parts in SoS.

The Rains of Castamere though.....More of a nervous excitement for that one..

Don't know if I'm prepared to see the Rains of Castamere, to be honest. Do you know if GRRM wrote The Rains of Castamere episode too?

SEASON TWO QUESTION

A note, first: I haven't read the books and for now I don't plan to (no time) so please don't include anything that would spoil season three for me. I don't think my question has bearing on season three but just so you know I don't want to be spoiled! (this thread has already spoiled one thing for me and I'm super PO'd about it)

The Question:
I was watching season 2 over the weekend and I got to the episode where Theon and his gang are chasing after Bran, et al, and "find them" at the farm. At the end of the episode Theon is giving a speech and the two charred bodies are strung up and it looks like Theon is surprised that they'd been burnt to death. Did he not, like, go and look at the boys when they were captured? Verify that it was indeed Bran and Rickon who had been found (and not two farm boys)? Tell his men what to do with the boys if/when they found them (i.e. take them alive, don't burn them to death)?

As I understand from the commentaries on the DVDs this played out differently in the books, I'm just wondering in terms of the show... what was Theon thinking not verifying that it was indeed the Stark boys who had been found?

SO excited for season three to start this weekend!!

He wasn't surprised that they were burnt to death. I think his expression was meant to display more of a "what have I done?!!" kind of thing. Theon knew exactly who he killed.

Exactly. Theon knew who he had killed and how they were killed (they were burned to hide their identities), I think it was just a moment of regret passing on his face. But he was very much a willing participant in the murder of the farm boys. FWIW, it's explained in the book that they didn't really need Bran and Rickon, they just needed two bodies, and while it wasn't Theon's idea, he agreed to go along with it.

Oh. So Theon knows that Bran and Rickon are still alive then? He just doesn't know where they are. I totally read the expression on his face as surprise to see the bodies burnt to a crisp as they're being hauled up. Maybe I'll rewatch the episode again.

I guess part of the reason for my confusion is that Alfie Allen has been so good over the course of season 2 at making Theon a deplorable but relatable character and acting Theon in such a way that his conflicts are apparent but the motivations for his choices are also apparent and that in this instance his expression and acting are somewhat ambiguous and hard to read. Perhaps intentional on the part of the show; not knowing what's coming up in season 3 I really can't say...

Haven't watched the series but Theon definitely knows Bran and Rickon are alive... just has no idea where they are. The other boys were killed so Theon could save face/maintain position after Bran and Rickon eluded him.
