Re: The Dedicatory

I agree. Before her book came out. I went to her website. I read her acknowledgments. I thought that maybe just maybe she would say something to her fans. to all of us. I was sad when I didn't see anything. I was sad.

To my big surprise, she said thank you to me and all of us who stuck with her. I thought it was beautiful and made me admire her even more. She didn't forget us the little people.

All I have to say is " You are Welcome! Thank you for sharing your world with us."

Re: The Dedicatory

As well as feeling valued by JK, I liked how it was a reference to the horcruxes (the fact that it was "split seven ways").

Re: The Dedicatory

I loved the dedication. I was hoping that she would give a shout out to the fans, and I'm very pleased she did.

I had a good chuckle at that.

Re: The Dedicatory

I finally got home with the book at about 3 a.m. and was absolutely exhausted and there was no chance I could really enjoy the book in such a state. I did however read the chapter titles and the dedication and I thought it was very very sweet. I did tear up a bit because you could tell she really meant it.

Re: The Dedicatory

Ya her dedication made me cry as well. I thought it was funny that I was crying before I even started reading the story. I thought it was very sweet, but given the dedication and those quotes in the beginning of the book, I thought Harry was going to die and that killed me!

Re: The Dedicatory

First up - it's dedication. Secondly, her fans have made her the wealthiest author alive - I was expecting at least a free final book and box of chocolates.

Re: The Dedicatory

I have been there since I was nearly elevan when I got my first HP book as a present. Ever sense The age that harry has been in the book had been my age so I have connected very well with everything. Pluse I have felt the pain of loss and hopelessness so closely with his its incredible. shortly after I read about dumbledore dieing my mom was told she had cancer. when harry and ginny split I had split and reunited with my boyfriend. very recently my beloved beagle panda, who I've had sense I was 7 died, only barely two week later to read of hedwig dieing.
so her dedication was like a way of saying this is it, your on your own now. No more Harry to help you just a memory to guide you.

Re: The Dedicatory

I really loved the dedicatory.

I had completely forgotten about it in the hype...and when I saw it I admit cried.

It was so thoughtful of her to include all of us loyal fans in her final book. Thank you Jo.

I cried when I read the dedication, and I cried when I read the acknowledgements at the site...

Re: The Dedicatory

The 7 parts made me kind of realise that Voldemort DEFFINITLY had his soul in 7 parts. But it was very sweet of JK, perfectly written dedications.

Re: The Dedicatory

I cried when it said it was split in seven ways because it was just so....final and emotional and sweet. Then I couldn't hold it in at ALL when she said "until the very end." It's like she knows...she's like Dumbledore with that piercing stare. She always knows what we're feeling and she always knows just what to say through her books. I feel like she knows me...

Re: The Dedicatory

I went online to find the door open and the fact that there was no puzzle to open it hit me- no more twists or turns simply the end. And the acknowledgements made me almost cry especiall that to her daughter Jessica.
Her dedication I thought was going to be either to the most dedicated readers of the last decade. Or to her eldest daughter Jessica- especially after reading the online acknowledgments where JKR wrote that she never new a time before Harry Potter even when he existed only in their house, and called him her fictional twin.
I enjoyed her seven way dedication very much it seemed sincere in depth and meant for us to understand. Perhaps not what I would have chosen but very real. I did enjoy the lightning bolt immensely

Re: The Dedicatory

I didn't see the dedication until I finished reading, since I was wary of spoilers from chapter titles. However when I did see I felt very happy and shed a tear or two.. it meant a lot that she recognized her long-time fans. :]

I nearly cried when I read the dedication. The one in the book and the one on her website. So touching.
