Re: The OTHER deleted scenes (Not on the DVD)

Well WB released the cover art for the POA and GOF Ultimate Editions, which means they should be on their way eventually, I'm guessing December. Hopefully soon they'll release a runtime for these and we can see if these Ultimate Editions are really something more or just the movies with the old dvd deleted scenes added in. I really, really hope it's something more!

The PoA UE cover looks mesmerizing!

Did SS/CoS UE have any scenes that had previously not be seen in the theatrical version or the deleted scenes?

My understanding is that they just included the cut scenes, plus a different take on the Borgin & Burke scene. However, given how low the sales have been (neither of the extended editions even cracked the Top 30, which means that they were selling at most in the 10's of thousands), I doubt that WB will invest in finishing the production of scenes that were cut earlier in the film-making process.

Rik Mayall did film some scenes , but according to his blog, they never even CGI'd them or retaped the dialogue or anything like that. However, Something like this would take a lot of work to add to a "what's after ultimate?" DVD. (Mayall referred to it as being "fired," but he might well have been being tongue-in-cheek.)

Lord of the Rings fans have been clamoring for this sort of stuff, as the extended editions there lack scenes that were included in the trailers (e.g., some of the Uruks getting into the Glittering Caves while Théoden charged: the trailers showed Éowyn taking some of them down). However, New Line / WB have not made any attempt to get a longer extended edition that includes them, despite how well the extended LotR DVDs sold.

Yeah i'm dying to see those scenes because in one of his interviews they showed it to him and he liked it, but clearly they didnt. I'd still LOVE to see them.

I'm reading the HBP script, and it's interesting. In the horcrux montage, they had a shot of Hufflepuff's cup, and the Riddle house. I hope we get to see these, even if they're just small flashes.

Even if it's in the script there no guarantee that a scene was filmed as not everything makes the shooting script.

I'm not talking about those kind of scenes. I'm talking about scenes like the Waterfall scene in GOF and the Sirius/Bellatrix duel in OOTP that were shot and just never included. Even if they haven't finished them, I want to see them on the UE.

Yes - there was a lots of pictures of the waterfall scene, and the sirus/bella duel was on one of OotP's ABC family sneak peeks.

Here's the video I made of the unreleased deleted scenes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9mUJTmFuZg The waterfall scene is at 2:02. And the Sirius/Bellatrix duel is at 5:01.

Now, I'm really mad. We did all this speculating and investigating, and we're not even getting extended cuts? Why WB why?

Re: The deleted scenes we've never seen...

One of the promo pictures that we received before the release of HBP showed Luna talking to Worple and Sanguini (who still appears in the film if you look very closely at the background of some scenes) at the Christmas Party. It was surely filmed, but it's not available under the list of deleted scenes on the DVD. Has there ever been an explanation for why the conversation was not included as a deleted scene?

Re: The deleted scenes we've never seen...

A lot of the time deleted scenes were cut from the final version of the film very late in the game, so I'm guessing this particular scene during Slughorn's Christmas party was thrown out early on in the process. Due to that, they probably didn't do any post production work on it that would make it a deleted scene for the DVD.

Has anybody ever seen this deleted scene with Trelawney in OoTP?
It's so hilarious.

Most of the deleted scenes from movies should've been kept in. But I guess they can't keep all of them.

Yeah, it was hilarious... But we've already seen that; it was on the OotP DVD, whereas this topic is talking about the yet-unreleased deleted scenes, such as the extra 45 minutes of OotP.

Re: The deleted scenes we've never seen...

About the 45m+ "Director's Cut" of Order of the Phoenix that David Yates had to remove from the theatrical version of the film, do we know for sure that all of the additional footage was fully completed in post-production (if it's largely incomplete, that may be why we haven't heard much about it) and was only pulled in editing at the last minute?

I'm fairly certain it would have been earlier on in post-production that they would have pulled it out, but I don't work for WB, so don't take my word for it.

Re: The deleted scenes we've never seen...

Well, considering the unsurprising financial success of the franchise and the clear demand that there would be for the extended product by the fans, I think that it would be wise for WB to invest in completing the footage if it was decided to shorten the theatrical cut significantly earlier on in post-production and not near the end if they took their time deliberating. Depending on the amount of special effects in the 45m+ of footage (most likely not too much, since the main CG "spectacles" made it into the theatrical cut of the film), I'm guessing that it would cost a few million to finish the Director's Cut.

EDIT: But then again, it may involve getting a lot of the team back depending on how much post-production work was done to the footage. For example, they would have to consult David Yates (who may have a desire to finish it after Deathly Hallows, or perhaps a few years in the future), the original editor, the cinematographer, etc. I think that WB could manage to make everything come together for a few weeks.
