Re: Harry Potter Ultimate Editions

There's already a thread discussing this topic. You should continue discussing the Ultimate Editions there.

Ultimate Film Collection Editions etc

quique07, there have been listings on Amazon in Germany for the DH Ultimate Editions, so it is likely that they will apper sometime soon. [Edit: after a bit of digging, I have discovered that these listings have been removed! ]

Temery, what you are wishing for is what the Wizard's Collection, out in two weeks, is.

Does this mean that now my Ultimate Editions are inferior? The whole point of me buying the UE was to get the most special features etc. Please tell me I'm wrong!

No, I don't believe there are any added special features to the DVDs. It just looks to me like a lot more ephemera; certainly not worth nearly $400.

You are mostly wrong The Wizard's Collection is just the UEs repackaged with 1 extra disc. Of course the DH UEs are not yet on sale, yet the Wizard's Collection includes them....

The set will be out in a couple of days. Will be interesting to see the response. I would get it if it wasn't so dang expensive, but realistically, I'm hoping for the smaller set which I'm sure has been confirmed (can't remember where). Hopefully that just the films on bluray, creating the world of harry potter documentary and a few extras. That's all I really want. I don't need another copy on DVD.

It has been a long time since I checked the contents, but I didn't get the impression that the DH DVDs/Blu-Rays were actually UEs! Let's hope!

The DH special features Blu-rays include the Creating the World Harry Potter documentary Parts 7 and 8 and other special features which is relative to the UE releases of OotP and HBP.

Oh okay then, and that leaves those of us who have no intention of buying the Wizard Collection wondering when the individual 7 & 8 UEs are going to be released . . . .

Re: Ultimate Film Collection Editions etc

I really hope I am not missing out on any special features by sticking with the UEs - The Wizard Collection is out in Australia for $409 (RIP OFF) or buy it on Amazon UK for $280 delivered. Gee let me think which way I will purchase it. I bet they release another boxset better with more features and more extended editions in a year. I will seriously be so effed off if I end up getting this (Which I am a sucker for HP so I will)

Hope you've got a multi-region player.

Ah, you're talking BR.

As I don't watch extras I'll just stick to the discs I have.

People still buy DVDs? I can't remember the last time I consider purchasing a DVD!
At any cost the region code still applies for DVD as well, however no matter where you live you can unlock your DVD player by getting the unlock instruction from the videohelp website, so either way it would have been fine. Even though you aren't fussed by the extra content, surely you want all of the cool trinkets and surprises inside the massive box?

Lucky you. Some of us have other priorities.

It's easy enough to "dezone" a dvd player so it plays all regions.

Oh, I see that 80fanboy said the same thing. Videohelp is a great resource.

Priorities? If you didn't realise DVDs and Blurays are pretty much the same price now. In a lot of cases Blurays are cheaper because it was released later and not old stock which is expensive at cost. There is absolutely no reason to buy DVDs anymore unless it has no Bluray release, you are buying for children only or you just prefer an inferior A/V experience for the same price.

This is not a roast, I'm just telling you how it is. No offence included

Re: Ultimate Film Collection Editions etc

So a few weeks back I caved in and pre ordered the wizard collection. I got it today and I have to say that it is haa-uugge. I'm sure that seeing as its going to be releasing all around the world in a few days that there will be hundreds of unboxings etc, but if anyone wants any specific pictures or info on the set just say. It is awesome.

I have better things to spend my money on than a BR player and a HDTV while I have a perfectly serviceable system. I have a life.

Anyway, BR is on the way out. The only question is whether it will be replaced by downloading, flash storage or Sony's new optical system which has a capacity of 20x BR.

But that's veering OT. The main reason I've not blown cash on the endless re-issues (apart from not wanting extras) is the cynical exploitation of a fan base.

Re: Ultimate Film Collection Editions etc

Here's an interesting article about the UEs of the last two films - http://www.hypable.com/2012/08/31/de...-release-date/

Not really sure if this is actually happening though. I would think there would be a lot of buzz if the final UEs were indeed coming out in October. This is the first I've heard of it.

I can see it happening, but I think they'd want to put the focus on the wizard's collection for now.

Regardless, the pages for the DH UEs no longer exist on Amazon Germany
