Falling Skies

Is anyone watching this show? I am sort of confused about who is related to who? I am still only on Ep 6 of Season 1, but i am confused about the religious girl whether or not she is related to the doctor. I thought maybe it was her daughter, but i don't think so. At least she has never called her mom. Maybe she they are just both the two medical people.

I am not really a big fan of shows with aliens, but this show has enough interesting things going on here to keep me going. They hold back the right amount. I keep thinking the robots actually have human kids inside or adults since they only have two legs instead of four like the aliens. And they just killed the alien that the one son was harnessed to and he seems better off then the first kid who was unharnessed, but he is still acting oddly.

I love falling skies! Its one of my favorite shows. As for relationships, as far as i know the only family we are really following is the Masons and the other soldier father with his harnessed son (Im blanking on their names). As for the Masons we have Tom the father, Hal Ben and Matt are the three sons. Ben is the one who was harnessed. I believe the religious girl is on her own and if i remember correctly was looking for her brother or he was killed or something (dont quote me on that as Its been a while since i watched season one)

The doctor doesnt really have any family but because of the circumstances it seems like everyone is coming together and acting like one big family taking care of each other which is why i think the realtionships are a bit confusing.

Re: Falling Skies

Thanks. For some reason that seemed confusing to me. I guess the connection between the two characters is just that they are both the doctors. The religious girl is just the doctor in training which is interesting. I think that this show needs a bit more development. I think it has developed the main family and the boys, but not the secondary characters. I feel like i don't know enough about the doctor or the doctor in training. And i don't know enough about the blonde girl that joined the group a couple of episodes in.

I think that the situation is interesting even though it is aliens but the characters need a bit more.

Re: Falling Skies

Falling Skies has been renewed for a 3rd season

This is why I like cable shows better than Network shows. You know what you're getting invested in, and so do the show's writers. They can plan the story arcs accordingly, and write finales knowing whether or not they're coming back for next season. It makes for much better TV.

well yes and no, because they have already filmed and written all of season two before receiving the renewal announcement. They could have written a complete cliff hanger for the end of this season and then not gotten renewed. However I think considering the ratings last year they knew they had a great chance at another pickup since its one of the highest rated cable shows. I just wish they could do more than 10 episode arcs.

Re: Falling Skies

13 episode arcs seem to generally be the way to do things. It tends to give enough time to tell the story without resorting to entire episodes of filler or slow-moving plotlines.

yea i almost wish it was 10 episode but the season opener and finales were two hours, so essentially 12 episodes. But either way great show i just wish there was more!

Re: Falling Skies

For all the criticism the show "Heroes" got, they did do one thing right, that I wish a lot of other shows would adopt: They decided to make a fall season, and a spring season...each with their own confined stories. There are a lot of shows that could benefit from this type of pacing.

I agree! and thats probably why falling skies is so amazing they wrap most things up but leave one or two big questions out there.

Re: Falling Skies

Yeah, I prefer when storylines are wrapped up at the end of the season.
