Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - 9/10

Having grown up in the 1980's when I used to play Pac Man on Atari on my black and white TV, I truly loved this book. I think this is a great book for anyone familiar with 1980's culture, who likes video games, and loves solving puzzles.

It's about a future US where society has fallen apart and largely lives online in a virtual simulation called the OASIS. James Halliday, creator of the OASIS, dies leaving his fortune to the first player to find an intricately hidden Easter Egg. Adventure and '80s nostalgia ensues with friendships formed and a classic good guys vs bad guys culmination.

I appreciated the fact that it seemed like this messed up society was only a blip in time that it was so corrupt and backwards that it didn't last for long.

Red Rain -- R.L. Stine -- 8/10

Good read overall. But definitely NOT for kids. A nice foray into adult horror fiction, and I'm looking forward to new books by him in this area. It's well written and pretty scary.

Spoiler: show
The main character, Lea Sutter travels to an island and finds more than she could ever bargain for, and it changes her life forever...

And it's not for anyone who doesn't like evol children .

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare 9/10

Great ending to the series. I like how this focused a lot on other characters besides on Tessa, Will, and Jem. It made the book more enjoyable because all of the secondary characters are just as interesting. The way this series handled a love triangle was perfect.
