Re: The Harry Potter Movie Marathon Thread

A friend and I plan to do this after all the films have been released on DVD (ie. in most likely 2012!)
That should be fun.

Let's see, on average 2.5 hours for each film, and there will be eight films; that's a whopping twenty hours straight! Ouch.

Re: The Harry Potter Movie Marathon Thread

I never saw this thread before....

the day before the release of OOTP (in Theaters) I accually timed it out to where I watched all 4 of the other movies right before seeing the fifth one on release day...now granted there WAS the 1 hour wait time AT the theater but hey it still counts right?

Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

The Ziegfeld Theatre in NYC is showing a Harry Potter movie marathon:

My point is not to advertise it, but to ask, is this something you would find interesting enough to do? Would you do it at home with friends? Would you wait until you could see all eight movies together? Would you wear adult diapers so you never had to stop watching until it was all through?

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I would watch a HP movie marathon at home, but I wouldn't pay to watch one at a theater. And I'd probably do it alone, as I have no HP fan friends in RL.

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

Sure would, though I don't know about doing it at a theatre.
In a way, I already have, and just did.
ABC Family channel just had their Harry Potter weekend, and my TV was on , set to that channel, for the entire weekend, beginning Friday night.. I watched a 90% - 95% of it, I'd say. Wow, I never realized how long CoS is!

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I would go and see it in theatres only if I had a bunch of my friends with me. Other then that, at home. Get some popcorn and pop, and enjoy.

Re: The Harry Potter Movie Marathon Thread

So Ziegfield theater in New York City is going to be hosting a HP marathon next Friday! I'm going to be there so you can expect a recount of my experience in this thread!

Is anyone else here planning on attending?

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I'd watch it at home, most likely. Once all eight movies are out on DVD, I plan on having a marathon. I wouldn't watch a marathon in theatres because I'd probably end up watching alone, most of my friends aren't Harry Potter fans, and if they are fans, they're not hardcore enough to withstand all those hours of just watching Harry Potter.

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I don't think I'd be able to. First, while watching it at home I can do other things, I don't think I'd be able to sit through it all at a movie theatre. Second I can't sit through POA only because I think its completely horrible and I never watch it. So that's basicly why I couldn't. I like having my own or watching ABC Family's.

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

Of course I would watch a Potter marathon. I plan on doing just that before HBP is released. I'll be watching them in high-definition, so that should be fun. Though I must say that PS/SS doesn't look too great in high-definition, from what I've seen on display at Best Buy.

Happy to watch an HP marathon, but I draw the line at that adult diaper thing.

My dates are set for the Christmas break. I'll let everyone know, in horrendously intricate detail, what I thought!

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I'd consider it certainly, but most likely not at a theatre. I'd have to do it at my own pace and convenience.

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

Well I think the more appropriate question is "have you?" Ive seen the five that are out in a row at home but there of course I could pause for a minute and go to the bathroom and such. If there was such a marathon in theaters they would surely have to have intermissions between each movie. People can't sit for that long, its not healthy. Drinking lots of fizzy drinks then holding it causes UTI and what not.

I'd attend but I think it would be far more comfortable in the privacy of my home.

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I would go, but not this one. Its too early to do something like that. It would be better to go when the final movie is to be released.

What I really think they should do though, is a JK Rowling sponsored marathon. Where you buy a ticket to see all the movies in various theaters worldwide. Maybe the price to see like 3 movies since most of them would already be released onto DVD at that point. Maybe call it the 2/4/8 days of harry potter of something like that. Some way to divide them up, because 8 movies at 2-3 hours each is insane to do all in one day, especially for the kids. But include a special screening of something new. Like an advance screening of the Tales of Beedle the Bard or something like that. Maybe Behind the Scenes interviews of the last movie. Just something that makes the marathon an event... something big for fans to do in anticipation for the final film. Similar to what they did on ABC family, but no commercial breaks and to include those movies that are not ready to be released onto TV yet. Almost like a Harry Potter convention... but with a focus on the movies.

Personally, I have always wanted to do something like this for a blockbuster series. I almost did it for Stars Wars or Lord of the Rings. I would just want a reason to do it beyond simply having the right to say I had. If it was supported by Rowling or at least WB, I think it would really be something to see. But if its just some random theater.. its not really worth it.

I would love to go, but since it's in NYC I'd rather not. I'll have my own movie marathon at home.

Absolutely not. Not at home or at a theatre. I think it would drive me insane after the first few

Re: Would you watch a Harry Potter movie marathon?

I would love to go see all five that are currently out on the big screen one more time! It would be even better to wait and see all eight of them in a marathon on the big screen though. I'd go with my honey and we'd annoy everyone around us talking about what they left out and how we would have done them differently.
