HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

Use this thread to discuss the scenes of the movie you thought were well adapted from the novel. Or scenes not from the novel that were good additions to the story.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Millenium Bridge attack It didn't last that long, but it was a lasting impression. I loved how they made that scene out of one paragraph!

After the Burial is another stand out favourite - Felix!Harry was hilarious!

Harry under the influence of Felix was hilarious loved it! Also as mentioned above the bridge sequence was outstanding. The whole opening part was great IMO.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

The Brockdale Bridge
Slughorn's house (exactly as I imagined it!)
Felix Felicis and Aragog's Burial (OMG, I just loved it when Harry imitated the pincers! That made me !)
Ron and Lavender (ugh!)
Hermione and her birds (and Harry comforting) really made me sad. It was so heartbreaking.
Ron's LOVE POTION scene! I loved it when he was hanging off of Slughorn. That's my Won-Won. And the poisoning scene nearly made me cry. I was so sad.
And the hospital wing - YES! Ron and Hermione make up!
The cave scene really freaked me out - especially that Inferi that pulled Harry under.
And lastly, Dumbledore's death...

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Oh yes Ron on Love Potion was great I also really liked when Hermione was holding Ron's hand in the hospital wing. Foreshadowing nicely

Harry with the pincers made that sequence!

And the cave was great - I knew the Inferi was going to gab him, but I still jumped!

I know! I laughed sooo loud. "tch, tch, tch, tch!" (makes hand movements) Omg. I'm so glad they added that there!

But the whole thing that really surprised me was the little bit they added about Slughorn telling Harry about a flower in his bowl that turned into a fish... but when Lily died, the fish was gone.

Honestly that was bloody brilliant.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Hermione and Ron in the hospital wing was so so cute!

I also really liked Harry and Hermione after they had stepped out of Slughorn's Party. Great acting there.

Me tooo!

"Oh shut up!" and she was holding his hand.
I'm so glad they kept the "Er-my-knee" line!

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Hahahaha,
Definitely the pincers at Aragogs Death.

I also think the chant of Snape healing Draco was great.
Of course the Inferi were creepy as well, i swear the whole audience jumped.

Another part I absolutely loved, though it wasn't in the book.
Was the Attack of the Burrow and the DE's chase in the reeds.
It wasn't exactly adapted, but it was creepy and exciting!

Ron getting poisoned was also done really well. The eyes rolled back, the foaming of the mouth and the rigid position did actually creep me out.

I couldn't stop laughing after that. I thought the entire Felix Felicis scene was done great, by far my favorite sequence in the series thus far simply because of its uniqueness.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

The scene at Slughorn's house was almost exactly like the books. Very well done.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Felix Felicis was awesome! Totally hilarious! And yes, in the cave the entire audience jumped even though most people knew it was coming. Lavender was perfect and Katie Bell getting cursed was freaky. And I must say, Tom Felton pretty much blew me away, he was so awesome at everything.

I thought the whole movie was completely epic! The best, IMO!

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Ron's poisoning scene, Katie's scene, and the cave scene were bloody brilliant in my opinion. They fitted it well like the book

Although it wasn't really quite clear -- it just showed Hermione telling Harry about Romilda giving him a love potion, but it didn't show her giving it to him. It just skipped to Ron staring at the moon.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Most of the scenes have already been mentioned but I'll list them anyway

-The Slughorn's house scene was pretty much perfect.
-Harry under the influence Felix Felicis was hilarious.
-Slughorn's real memory was great. Very good acting by the boy who plays teenage Riddle. He was curious in an evil manner and the echo/hiss after everything he said was a nice touch.
-Ron under the love potion was hilarious.
-The cave scene was amazing. The whole audience jumped when the inferi grabbed Harry.
-The Death Eater attack of the burrow was a nice addition.
-I really liked how they kept the audience aware of what Draco was up too.

Overall the film was a great adaptation. Definitely one of the best movies so far.

edit: The Katie Bell scene was amazing also. It was freaky.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

loved the felix felicis scene with the burial. It was so well done and pretty darn faithful to the book.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

And, not to forget, the part where Slughorn mentions a bowl left in his office, with a flower that dropped to the bottom and became a fish. Then... when Lily died, the fish disappeared. It vanished.

That, is one of the few things, that I appreciate they added into the movie.

Re: Best Adapted Scenes

Goodness, too many to count. A few that really stuck in my mind:

How Snape approached Harry underneath the tower before he went to Dumbledore. I don't know, it was just really cool.

The pinchers...

The scene with Ron in the hospital wing. It was just hilarious.
