After all what? The Governor accused Merle so that when they escape, Daryl will trust Merle and them so will the prison group. I think it's all set up.

Also, did anyone notice that the new group in the prison never smashed that girl's head in yet? During the whole episode I was screaming 'Leave her!', I mean, really. She's been bitten. She's dead. She's done. Carl knew that.
Yes! It made me very uncomfortable.

Speculation:

Spoiler: show
I don't think Glenn and Maggie will trust Merle. The way the Governor looked at Merle before the Merle/Daryl scene was of complete hatred and rage because Merle lied about killing Michonne. Plus, I think Merle is more inclined to help his brother (considering he went on and on about keeping Daryl safe). Betraying Daryl's group...Wouldn't help.

Re: The Walking Dead

I think the governor is serious about hating Merle now. Not only did he lie to him about Michonne, but he is also the one who brought Glen and Maggie there, thus causing the "terrorist" attack on Woodbury.

Re: The Walking Dead

Midseason finale was intense!

Spoiler: show
Loved the Michonne/Governor fight. I knew from being a fan of the comic, that he would have to lose his eye. Also glad to see that Tyrese has finally showed up.

As for the Merle/Daryl/Governor angle, I think, they may be forced to fight in the arena possibly to the death. I think it would be soon to kill one of them off. I am guessing something will have to happen. Either they escape or make a deal with the Governor together. However I expect Daryl to remain loyal deep down. Merle is the big question mark.

I was gutted! What a cliffhanger to leave the show on. And we have to wait till February for the rest of the season.

Re: The Walking Dead

That was a great opener!

Spoiler: show
I can understand Darryl's decision - if my brother was unwanted by a group, there's no way I'd leave him. Of course, if I were a group like that group, I sure would not want Merle to be a member.

Bet not accepting those outsiders into his group will come back and bite Rick in the butt. At least 2 seem like the sort who will kill for control of the prison.

I know many didn't like Lori, but I never liked Andrea. Talk about people believing what they want to believe! I can't believe she forgave Governor for not telling her about Glenn and Maggie being there, and after that display with making Daryl and Merle fight to the death.. I can see the people calming down and rallying after that speech she gave - they seem to love the life they have there and want to keep it - but I thought the actress who plays Andrea did a poor job delivering it. Not very convincing, IMHO.

Definitely!

Spoiler: show
Holy cow... is pretty much all I can say here. Doesn't look good for Rick and co. right now.

Especially with him hallucinating about his wife, Lori. How's he going to be any kind of leader when he's in that kind of condition ?

I thought Andrea did an ok job delivering the speech. It was the only real moment that I could stand her this season. She's pretty gullible from the looks of things and I still can't believe that she'd want to stay in the governor's town after all that's come down.

As for Darryl and Meryl -- those two look sane in comparison. Heck, I was surprised to see them show up at the prison to help beat up the walkers that the gov set on Rick's camp, along with the rest of his goons.

That man REALLY has a dark/evil side to him and hopefully Andrea will come to her senses and leave. As for Rick and co., they need to take the gov out soon and fast, before things get that much worse .

Re: The Walking Dead

*bump* in order to talk about this past season...

Spoiler: show
Wow is pretty much what I can say about it. It's been one heck of a season. With Rick running into his former cop partner and seeing that things haven't been going that well for him, to the end with Andrea having to kill herself before turning into a walker and Daryl dealing with having to kill his brother Meryl... it's been one heck of a roller coaster ride.

Looking forward to next season. Anyone else have any thoughts on this past season (put it under spoiler tags just to be on the safe side, in case anyone might not have watched it)?

Re: The Walking Dead

I think we can forego spoiler tags at this point.

Fawkes--Morgan isn't Ricks former partner. Shane was his partner. Morgan was the random stranger who saved Rick after he woke up from his coma and was wandering around all confused.

I thought this season was strong, especially the episode with Morgan. They definitely kept me engaged all season long. The only let down for me was the finale. I think they really dropped the ball there. All season they built up this impending battle with the governor, and in the end it was just an anticlimactic let down. I think they really fumbled that finale.

Ah, ok.

Forgot about that. Got them mixed up .

They kept the tension going for a lot of it.

How do you think they fumbled in the finale? Was it due to what happened with the Guv's lackey, Andrea and the rest of the people who were fighting against Rick and co.?

Well, they just built and built up to this huge battle and they just didn't deliver. The whole second half of the season was practically about how outgunned they were, how outmanned they were. How malicious the governor was, how he was gonna come for them and kill every single one of them. They bust into the prison with automatic weapons and rocket launchers, for gods sake. And they just run away at any resistance? They all just run away?? And Glenn and Maggie pop up all "Yea! We won!" And they all ran away screaming "That was a massacre!" when as far as we saw, no one died at all. I mean, yeah, it's believable that the untrained ones would flee, but the Governor and his trained henchmen? I don't buy it. And they just erase all the build up of the season in an instant when the gov shoots everyone. The battle should've been longer and resulted in some actual casualties especially from our side to warrant the time devoted to building it up.

Same here about the Gov's men. It didn't make a lot of sense. He went nuts on that one. Totally went off a cliff, just because (iirc) some people didn't want to go and fight. again. You'd think that there would have been some actual fighting among-st both sides, given the humongous amount of tension that had been building, and with the governor (especially) spreading lies among his own troops about Rick's side, you'd figure more people would be fired up (so to speak) to go after them. It doesn't add up. Sounds more like a cop out by the writers, imo. And it's a dang shame there.

Re: The Walking Dead

^Yeah, I think it was definitely a cop out. Really they'd been setting up this epic face off between the governor and Rick, but then they decided that they wanted to keep the character of the governor around instead of killing him off at the end of season three. I think they should've killed the governor and sent the group back out on the road because the prison was lost or destroyed in the fight. The episode, Clear, with Morgan was so refreshing. I didn't realize that I wanted to see other groups and how they'd been surviving until that episode. I think that would be cool to see.

It would have been more interesting to see what would have happened if he'd been killed off. Would the groups still be against each other or would they have banded together to fight off the walkers?

Same here, it added more variety and different view points to the show.

Yeah, and it would've been cool if the Grimes Gang had booby trapped the prison like Morgan had booby trapped the whole town. That would've been a way to get an upper hand against the governor.

Definitely. He wouldn't have seen it coming. Kind of felt sorry for Andrea though, she tried to get him, but it didn't work. Wonder why he killed his side kick, other than him possibly working with Andrea (which I wasn't sure if he was or not), what other reasons did he have for beating him up so bad and leaving him to turn into a walker?

He betrayed the gov. by both helping Andrea and torching the pit full of walkers that the gov was going to use in his attack against the prison. I liked Milton. I thought he, Andrea, and Tyreese were going to join forces in Woodbury.

Ah, forgot about that. Me too. He seemed to be really timid at first. It's good to see that he finally did stand up to him. That would have been good to see.
