Woah, that's one huge aftershock!! I didn't know that aftershocks could be that big. I've heard of 5 and 6 ones... but never of 7 ones. That's really strong.

I have seen that question commented upon quite a bit around the media.
There doesn't seem to be a clear answer, but my guess would be that 7.2. is a LOT smaller than 8.8 (or whatever the insane rating of the original quake was), and it's presumably connected with still releasing tension along the same faultline.... Thinking back, there were some aftershocks over 6 in Haiti, where ther original quake was around 7.... Still, it is scary.....
