I, as an IE user, can say it doesn't

It does it in Firefox and Safari though

Re: Comments on New CoS Forums Features

I tried it, too. If you hover over the 'select a theme' icon in Internet Explorer, the words appear, but when you click on a theme, nothing happens. It works in Firefox, though, like ArryGrotter said. There must be something in the settings of Firefox that allow that feature to work that are different from the settings in Internet Explorer. I know that those differences exist in other websites, too. My office webmail shows more features when I use Firefox than when I use IE.

My bad, forgot to test it out in IE. Should be fixed now hopefully.

Re: Comments on New CoS Forums Features

Hello... I hate to drop in after so long that about 2/3rds of the areas here are new to me (bad Miri!) and then complain... But my cute little wavy avatar gets blown up to considerably larger than its normal size in some places (like the new social groups area, and when I view my friends), and gets all pixellated I've had it for far too long to change it, and most sites that will give me bigger smilies are likely to give me spyware too...

Any chance that it can not be stretched, or am I just about the only user with an avatar about 1/10th the maximum size?

You have a small avatar, 25px x 29px. It looks as if the social groups are set to show avatars at a somewhat uniform width, approximately 60px. That is probably why your very small avatar gets pixilated when it is blown up. I think the only way to prevent that is to get a bigger avatar.

Neither do I. Is there a chance of one day having a very step-by-step tutorial for those of use who have no idea how to use this feature? I looked at the one Morgoth has up, but it doesn't really help.

welcome back!

I'm afraid there isn't much i can do at the moment without messing with the layouts. but, if you have photoshop (image ready in particular) you could add a couple of transparent pixels to the gif to make it atleast 60px × 60px?

Re: Comments on New CoS Forums Features

Thanks, Ali. I've read that tutorial, too, but I can't see to get the image I want on the background. I keep getting an error. I have the image in the album and copy the URL at the bottom, paste it in the main background area and when I save, I get a message saying error has occurred in the background area. It never tells me what the error is. Any suggestions???

Did you create a new album for the picture? You need to have one set to 'Profile' to make it work.

Now THAT was the little detail I was missing! Thanks!!! I'll play with it some more when I have time, but it is working now without the error message.

Is there any way we can have the new posts button on more pages than just the front?

Thank Ali, but that doesn't really explain how to do the various things, or even what they are. Something like Alastor's "Siggies for Dummies" (only for profiles) would be perfect for me, whenever someone has the leisure time to make it. There's no rush, but it might be helpful for some of the other fogies like me.

I was afraid you'd say that! Thanks anyway!

Thanks! The forums are looking very different (so big! And everything's been rearranged - which makes sense given that the books are finished... It feels more like a Harry Potter-themed community area now than an HP forum), which will take a bit of adjusting to...

Thanks Ali! I'll try that (I think Kit has Photoshop...)

There's an explanation how to get started here. Look under 'Customize Profile'.

I would go for the try and error method. Go to 'Customize Profile'. You'll see many tables, which probably won't tell you exactly what they're supposed to do or where they are located at your profile. But that's no problem: click on the colour side bars and just try out changing some colours. You'll figure out very fast which table changes to which colour if you use the preview option (even faster if you use some unusual colours at first to see where a table is located). That's how I got used to the feature.

Since there's a reset button, you can't do much wrong. If you don't like what you tried out, just turn it back to default.

You should always test things in IE. Forget the other browsers.

Thanks for getting it to work. You are awesome.
