Oh, it's real. I heard about this through IGN the other day. No other movie matters anymore.

Re: Coming Soon in 2012

I noticed this image in Screenrant's 2012 Movie Preview and is it just me or does it look like Tim Burton copied from a Harry Potter set...?

Re: Coming Soon in 2012

Wow, is it always this bad this time of the year?

TOP BOX OFFICE
57% The Lorax $70.2M
26% Project X $21.1M
28% Act of Valor $13.6M
54% Safe House $7.4M
31% Tyler Perry's Good Deeds $7.0M
42% Journey 2: The Mysterious Island $6.5M
28% The Vow $6.0M
26% This Means War $5.6M
15% Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance $4.6M
60% Wanderlust $3.8M

Only one rated" fresh" film (and just barely so at 60%) in the Top 10 at the box office...

^Yeah, that's about right. I won't say this is always the way it goes, because then you'll find some year, maybe a recent one, where there were actually several movies that made a lot of money and actually liked by critics. But January-March is bad movie season; these are generally the doldrums, with occasional exceptions. The movies that critics and "cinephiles" embrace tend to be small, obscure, and independent in the truest sense because what Hollywood puts out are the dregs, the also-rans, and the, "Oh, I guess we can go see that, if you want" time-killers. Hence the disparity between what people see and what they're warned not to see.

Re: Coming Soon in 2012

Les Miserables- Directed by Tom Hooper
Staring: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohan, Helena Bonham Carter, Eddy Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Tveit, and with cameo appearances from Colm Wilkinson, Daniel Evans, Hannah Waddingham, Gina Beck, Frances Ruffle, and Nancy Sullivan. Based on one of the longest musicals in the world which is also based on the novel by Victor Hugo. Expect it by December 2012.

Re: Coming Soon in 2012

Les Miserables
The Great Gatsby
Anna Karenina

Not really familiar with the story of any of those but the trailers have intrigued me. I'm guessing at least one will be an Oscar nom.

The following all look good to me as well-

Hysteria
Rock of Ages
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
Ted
The Amazing Spiderman
The Dark Knight Rises
Total Recall
The Bourne Legacy
Lawless
Gangster Squad
Argo
Flight
Skyfall (aka Bond 23)
The Hobbit

Oh, and at the moment I have no interest in The Master of Django Unchained. Surprise surprise, eh?

Re: Coming Soon in 2012

I'm intrigued by Dredd... I like Karl Urban as an actor, not sure he has the physique for JD, but we'll see. Anything's better than Stallone, right?
