Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew / Wormtail
Timothy Spall as Wormtail is some of the best casting in the entire film series. What do you think?

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
Oh I agree completly! He embodies Wormtails traits perfectly! He is creepy and completly unlikeable. I'm excited for his scenes in DH, esp. at malfoy manor. I'm hoping they'll protray his final scene exactly how it is in the book. I can't see why not, but I think its very important to show the binding that even the dirtiest of wizards must adhear to.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
He's perfect as Wormtail! I've seen him in many BBC adaptations now, and he's always very good.
I loved how he had the sniveling, rat-like behavior just like it was described in the book.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
I thought he played the part perfectly; I loved the little rat-like tendencies he displayed because it just seemed to in tune to what it would be like to suddenly be human after more than a decade as a rat.
His mannerisms, the way he whined to Remus and Sirius...I absolutely love to hate him in the movies, and a great deal of that is due to the wonderful acting. I can't wait for his death scene in DH, because I want to see what he does with it. I always see him in my mind's eye when reading the books.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
Yes. He was great as Wormtail. He always has that "slimy, manky" look to him even in other films. lol. The way he does the nose-wiggle and stuff after being transformed back was great! The clutching of Sirius and Remus and Harry's robes. Even his nasty little voice! So perfect.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
Yes, I also agree that Timothy Spall was a perfect Pettigrew. He had all the mannerisms down very well, and he really looked like someone who'd been a rat for 12 years.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
I absolutely love Timothy Spall as Peter/Wormtail. I think he was the perfect actor to play him. He looked and acted so rat-like, and he just behaved exactly how I imagine Wormtail would, especially in the scene in the Shreiking Shack where he's begging them not to kill him.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail
I thought he was fantastic. It's funny, any time I see him in anything else now, I think of him as Wormtail--even in Kenneth Branagh's (awesome) adaptation of Hamlet where he played Rosencrantz and was reciting Shakespeare, he was still a rat to me
He's a great actor, I can't wait to see more of his great work in DH.Last edited by PupilOfBinns; March 7th, 2010 at 4:37 am. |

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew / Wormtail
I didn't like him, can't really nail a particular reason for it. I can't imagine a younger version of him ever being part of the Marauders.
Thankfully, his part is downplayed enough in the movies that it's not as big a concern.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew / Wormtail
Timothy Spall is a truly incredible actor. He was perfect for Wormtail in every way apart from the age, at the time of death, Wormtail was only 38 yet seemed so much more older. I can't really discredit Spall's portrayal though, he is excellent and was the best of the Marauders actors for me.

Re: Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew / Wormtail
I think Spall was a terrific Wormtail. I never really thought of anyone else who could play Wormtail as well as Spall did, but I do think Mark Addy would be pretty interesting. Maybe a little too tall, but merhinks he's just got a wormtail-like quality about him.
