Re: NCAA Football thread

Yup. However, you have to remember that NC State did this to them two other times in the last 12 years, including 2002 (making ND's victory look pale and shallow). Miami's no-show after that opening drive was almost as shocking (but very enjoyable for me).

ND is overvalued in the Top 10, but if they come through their next few games, they have a chance to make some real noise. Next up, Stanford.

Re: NCAA Football thread

Um, what?

Expalin Florida over Alabama and Oregon, please. K-State is a nice argument and ND is all over the place.

The ND defense was impressive against Stanford. They survived the trap game with a good effort from the defense in spite of a key turnover. The proof should be out there this weekend.

Re: NCAA Football thread

Ok. The reason Florida is the number 1 team is because they're 3 best wins were at Texas A&M,LSU,South Carolina. Alabama's best wins were at Tennessee,Michigan,Ole Miss. As for Oregon, their best wins were against Arizona, 3-4 Washington, Arizona State. As for K-State, at Oklahoma,at West Virginia,at Iowa State. As for Notre Dame: Stanford, Michigan, 4-4 Michigan State. Clearly, Florida been the most impressive.

Yes, let chaos reign. K-State gave up a garbage time touchdown, so that game looks a lot closer than it was. ND takes care of business against a now 2-8 team. Oregon had a 14 point lead going into half. We'll see what happens.

And that worked out well...bygones. Nothing on this thread in two years. Nothing on the rise of Jameis and now nothing on the power of the Magnolia State? Let's remedy that. This looks like Notre Dame's biggest game (outside that BCS Championship disaster) since the Bush Push game. They have potential, FSU does have vulnerabilities, but I'm trying to be a realist. Still, I hope they win. It'd be a banner moment for the program. Possibly the best one since defeating FSU in '02, or even further back.

Re: NCAA Football thread

And they lost in a very ugly way. The wheels came off their season but they rallied for a victory in a "Who Cares" Bowl. Pinstripe? Poinsetta? I can't even remember.

Golson left for FSU with his final year of eligibility (whether it was a classroom problem or a playing time problem, I don't know). And then the program got rotten egg all over its face with Kelly claiming/admitting that maybe two of the players he recruited could have gotten in without athletic consideration in a statement where he was either advocating

A. his entire team needed intense tutoring for all their classes to stay eligible or
B. The University needs to accept certain academic realities and adjust the scholastic standards for the football team--or possibly all athletes. He was quite broad in his statement. I think that might have been the death knell of his career at ND. Well, except for his multi-year multi-million-dollar contract which they'd look ridiculous eating. After all, they're still paying Charlie Weis a significant amount of money to NOT coach the Irish. Yikes! What a mess.
