Archipelago - a low budget film st on the Isle of Tresco in the Scilly Isles. It was recomended by Mark Kermode the film critic and I wasn't disappointed. The scenery was stunning and it was refreshing to see a film that just focussed on the interaction of the characters rather than all the special effects!

Seconded! Love In Bruges, but most people have never heard of it. Colin Farrell also gives a great performance in this one.

By now, there's kind of this canon of movies that keep coming up in conversations of overlooked movies, obscure movies, movies not enough people have heard about, etc. (Devil in a Blue Dress, Once, Dark City, The Others, After Hours...), and In Bruges is one of them. That's no problem with me, because it's a terrific film. I just wonder if Martin McDonagh is coming back to the film world any time soon. His brother, John Michael McDonagh, did pretty well for himself this year with the critical success The Guard, also starring Brendan Gleeson.

One of my favourite documentary movies is Red Without Blue. It's about the relationship between twins where one is transitioning genders.

Trois Couleurs: Bleu. I've only watched the 'Blue' version, in French. It is about a woman's phenomenological experience coping with losing her child and husband in a car crash.

I haven't heard too much discussion about the movie, Kinky Boots. It is a British comedy about a struggling family business that makes shoes, and to turn the business around starts making fetish footwear for drag queens.

There are several movies I like which my friends just don't know - like "Without a Paddle" and "Dogma"; seriously, how can anyone not know Dogma?

What bothers me more, though, is that not many people I know know "Earthlings". That movie has had a very strong impact on me, and I can't believe there are people who have never heard about it.
I can't understand that some people completely refuse to watch it, either (although I can understand that not everyone can watch it until the end).

One of my favourite movies is "The Lucky Ones" with Rachel McAdams. No one knows about it though because it's an independent film, but it's simply amazing. I didn't want it to end. I was able to find it on DVD (though I had to order it because it wasn't in stock anywhere), and I cherish it.

I like Without a Paddle! I think we got the DVD when it came out, it's so funny!

I really wanted to see Ondine but it never played here. I take it it's a good movie?

The Ballad of Jack and Rose. It's absolutely one of my favorite movies and no one that I know of has even heard of it. It stars Daniel-Day Lewis and Camilla Belle. It's more of an indie film, but it is so beautiful to me. I think it's very underrated.

A few posts ago, someone mentioned The Fifth Element. Yes. Such a fun movie.

Also, True Romance. None of my friends have heard of it (story of my life), but I've made a couple watch it with me. Gary Oldman as Drexl completely makes the movie, his performance was so hilariously awesome.

Yep, In Bruges is an excellent film. I love dark humor (also like After Hours which was mentioned by IenjoyAcidPops).

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff...

....I miss David Tennant....

I really enjoyed this trilogy; I viewed all three films in the cinema when they were first released. My favourite is "Trois Couleurs: Blanc". Although I think it is the least hailed of the 3 films, I love its dark humour. I definitely recommend viewing white and red if you liked blue.

I'm another fan of In Bruges - I only got it because Brendan Gleeson was in it but it is a really funny film!

Re: Movies you like that NO ONE ELSE EVER HEARD OF! #2

When this movie was first advertised on tv I was soooo exited! You see, I grew up watching Popeye on tv all the time. The film was a decent try for the time. The translation of this particular cartoon to motion picture with actors should not have followed, so closely, the cartoon's mumbling characters and atmosphere.

Saw a movie called "Cashback" with Oliver Wood actor, Sean Biggerstaff. Had some funny parts, but was strange story about relationship and his view of his life. I liked it, but don't expect anything spectacular. Also, one called Thunderpants with Rupert Grint, sometime after Sorcerer's Stone. I found it hilarious, but I don't mind this kind of funny.
