Well, that shouldn't be a problem since they didn't cast a fourteen-year-old girl but a young woman for the part.

I figured they would do as much. (I can't keep track of all the actors never mind their ages! I still have to look at the family trees to remember whose related to who in the books! ) And in this case I think strickly to the books isn't anecessity anyway.

Dany will be played by Emilia Clarke. She's pretty much a newcomer. I haven't found any indication of her age but her playing age is listed as 16 - 25 years.

And I think much involving the children of the series will be implied more than directly shown. This is HBO, so I don't expect it to be exactly family-friendly, but I don't think they will cross any line regarding their child stars.

And Emilia is a recent graduate of Drama Centre London. So I'd imagine she's old enough for any scenes they would wish to shoot, if they indeed choose to go that way.

Exciting news!

At least for people like me who adore Jamie Sives. I am so excited to see him being part of the project. Too bad that his role is rather smallish.

And Aidan Gillan has been casted as Petyr Baelish, more popularly known as Littlefinger.

Oh yeah, he, too, was cast. I was too excited about Jamie to remember. I think he looks like he fits the role perfectly.

In my hear of hearts I always thought Peter Wingfield of Highlander fame would have made a great Petyr Baelish.

I wish I knew more of these actors, or have seen them in other things. But both Gillan and Sives look the part. Sives look like he can play trusting well, and Gillan looks like he can play sinister well.

I love Peter Wingfield like whoa and if he had been given this role, the crossover opportunities with the character of Methos would have been amazing. But as much as I love him I must say that he didn't age well.

You should watch Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself, an excellent film with Jamie Sives as the male lead. It's also a Harry Potter meet-up with James Potter and Moaning Myrtle in important roles.

Re: A Game of Thrones

A fansite has an HBO factsheet about the show, listing all of the characters and actors that will play them, along with some links.

There's been a lot of casting news lately, I like the way IGN said it "HBO's Game of Thrones casts...EVERYONE!" and the complete list can be found at the link or many other sites across the web.

But I did hear that there has been another change in the cast of the pilot. Jamie Campbell Bower will no longer be playing Waymar Royce as he was offered the part of Arthur Pendragon in the Starz series "Camelot."

Heh, I had to smile when I read that on GRRM's blog. Harry Potter is everywhere. It was only a question of time, seeing that basically every British actor has been in HP at one point.

Re: A Game of Thrones

Probably just CGI. Harry Potter had no problem showing dragons on-screen. I'm sure GoT will do something similar.

Re: A Game of Thrones

In the beginning they'll only need cute wee baby dragons and skulls anyway.

And of course the eggs. They'll probably just show the dragon eggs til the season one finale.

Re: A Game of Thrones

or maybe a mix of both animatronics and cgi. Not really sure how big there budget is, but every time i've seen CGI on tv it's been bad.

Re: A Game of Thrones

I'm assuming they've got a large enough budget. HBO isn't exactly a poor company, and they've hired some big names as a part of their huge cast.

Yeah, I'm not worried about any of this looking cheap. HBO never disappoints in terms of visuals.
