Track & Field

Does Anyone here run track??
If so:
What events are you in?
What are your personal records?

I run track, but i hate it, but It'll be worth it because last year, our high school won states(I was in 8th grade then), and we should win it again.

100 Hurdles- like 16 something, not too sure
200 hurldes(<-hate them with a passion)- 32 something
High Jump(LOVE IT!!!)- 5'1" =] I broke the high school record while in grade school,
dang, it doesnt count, but i hope I can maintain that or do better ;]
I also did the 4x2 relay, It was pretty fun, but I think I'll end up running it this spring

If I didn't have to do Hurdles, I'd be perfectly happy!

Re: Track & Field

I used to run track a long time ago (twenty years ago) and I was rubbish at all the main disciplines except long-distance running which I am still quite good at.

Personal bests:

100metres: 14.7 seconds (1989)
200 metres: 30.4 seconds (1989)
400 metres: 69.3 seconds (1988)
800 metres: 2.39 minutes (1988)
1500 metres: 5.32 minutes (1988)
3000 metres: 12.17 minutes (1989)
10000 metres: 46.47 minutes (2007)
half-marathon: 1 hour 50 minutes (2008)
marathon: 3 hours 48 minutes (2007)
shot-put: 4.84 metres (abysmal 1990)
100 metres hurdles: 26.6 seconds (1990, abysmal)
long-jump: 3.82 metres (rubbish, 1989)
high-jump: 1.10 metre (rubbish, 1989)

As you can see, I am still going well over the really long distances and I am hoping for a new personal best over the Treviso marathon next week! Every now and again I still get to run 800 metres, I now finish that in just under 3 minutes.

Re: Track & Field

This is my first year at track. I did cross country earlier this year.

So I wanted to run in track, but I'm not that fast. So I just decided to do shot and discus. We have our first meet on tuesday. Maybe after next week I'll run.

Re: Track & Field

@sirius_lee_G: Well done! I have never been a sprinter, I am an endurance runner. However, I am a little nervous with the Comrades Marathon (55 miles instead of "just" 26!) coming up in exactly a month's time...

Re: Track & Field

Wow! Hope you do well!

I CAN do endurance but I'm about speeed and not so good in endurance. So if I wnt to stay ahead, I just get a really fast start at first and then work my way through

good luck though!

Re: Track & Field

That's the advantage with long-distance running, you can race throughout the whole year. Meanwhile I have done this Comrades Marathon (55 miles) a second time, I have got a new personal best for a half marathon (1:44.47), I did another standard marathon of 26 miles last Monday (3:44.17) and I have got the marathon in Luton coming up in December.

Re: Track & Field

Former track man here but still love it. High and intermediate hurdles, quarter miler, and 4X400 relay. Tried pole vault for all of two weeks before I missed the mat one day and hit the adjacent asphalt basketball court. That cured me of it straightaway!

Re: Track & Field

I love track!
I'm a triple jumper. That's my main event. I also run 100m hurdles and throw javelin. I'm very versatile. I also run relay at available opportunities. I wish every season was track season!

Re: Track & Field

I did track for the first time this year. I don't like distance stuff at all but I loved the sprints. Every day we had to do an 800m run to warm up. Not something I enjoyed. My times are pretty bad, but this was only my first year.

100m, 17s.
400m, 1:27.
400m relay, I believe we had a 1:11.

I absolutely despised the 400m sprint. I only like to do short distances. I did a 200m once and got a 0:44 I think. But the 400m is so painful and I will never do it again. I did it three times last season and next year I think I'm going to replace it with hurdles. All I know is that I will never go back to the 400m.
