Thanks

What is this about autographed copies? Was this the US?

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

Well, if you're asking about what we discussed earlier on in this thread, amazon.co.uk are running a competition for everyone who ordered a special edition copy of the book before December 2nd. Each of their names will be entered into a competition for a chance to win a supplementary special edition, signed by JK Rowling.

Hope that makes sense and I hope you like posting on the forum!!

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

I just got mine! I had to go to my sister's house! I looked at the box and loved it! I loved the message to the Muggles about not delivering or opening until Dec 4th! I loved the pictures and the covering of the actual book! I can't wait to get reading!

I'm not sure about getting it. I know that it's the children's tales that were mentioned in Deathly Hallows, but I'm not sure if I'll like it. Next time I'm at the bookstore I'll check it out. Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas.

I agree, I think it being sold on Thursday killed the chances of midnight release parties. I don't even know if I would have gone if it was on the weekend, though. It's a companion book and, while HP is great, it's not the same as the series.

Though that's not to say that I'm not excited for the book! I'm going to buy it in a few hours.

The collector's edition is but the standard edition is only $7.

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

So I was fast enough to get one of the reduced price CE copies on Amazon this morning! Yay! I won't find out if it's a signed copy until it arrives, though, which isn't until the 10th! I don't know if I was fast enough... a lot of people wanted it and 35 copies isn't too many, so I'm not getting my hopes up too high. But, hey, at least I got to save 30 bucks! Maybe I'll be lucky enough someday to ask Rowling to sign it myself, right? :-)

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

I have a wee complaint about it:
"Ten local schools have been asked to bring 20 pupils, aged between eight and 11, to the tea party."
JKR invited local schoolkids to a tea party to celebrate. Between 8 and 11?! What about those aged between 15 and 21 who spent the last ten years of their life reading the books?! Where's our tea-party?!
hahaha

Not to mention that kids aged 8 - 11 shouldn't even be reading the Potter books.

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

I ordered and received the UK version of the book in less than a week. That's excellent. The bad news is that the binding is screwed up. The pages aren't stuck to the spine like the American version of the book. To those of you who have the UK standard edition, is the binding of your copy the same as I described here? I want to send the book back and get a replacement but if others have the same problem, then it's not worth it.

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

My pages are stuck to the spine. I had to go check to make sure, but yes, there are quite positively stuck in there.

I say send it back and they'll replace it for you relatively quickly. Their postal times seem to be good.

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

The book is only eligible for a refund. I'll send it back for a refund and purchase it again. I have to pay for shipping but Amazon UK will refund it if they decide that the problem with the item is their fault. It doesn't really matter. I'll have enough money to buy it again. If the newly purchased copy has the same problem, I guess I'll just keep it.

That's horrible. I'd be very upset if mine arrived like that.

I had a similar problem with my DH Amazon order. The spine bent when I barely opened the book. That doesn't happen with my OotP and HBP books. I sent it back and got a copy from Wal-Mart, which does it as well, but not as much.

Re: The Tales of Beedle the Bard book

I accidently found it in the bookshop .. gawsh, i nearly started dancing out of happiness, i really didn't expect to find it over here (so soon). I thought it would take ages before it would be sold in Belgium, but there it was.
I've only read 2 stories so far, but i already LOVEEEEE it.
n_n

Thank you, Standaard Boekhandel (that's the name of the bookshop ;d ) !!!!
