The OH NOES, PROTECT THE CHILDREN party has been complaining about Amy wearing short skirts even in the most ridiculously inappropriate situations. Others - like you - have then argued that there was much worse in Old Who. This didn't stop anyone from beating a dead horse and so this was one of the most fiercely discussed details of the previous series.

heh, well, they might have kept things in better perspective back in the day. Supposedly, after Pat Troughton stumbled multiple times over some polysyllabic pseudoscientific mumbo jumbo, he complained that it wasn't fair that he got stuck with all of the hard lines. Frazier Hines supposedly replied that it was his (Hines') job to get the young women to put down their knitting, Deborah Watling's job to get the young men to stop playing football, and Troughton's job to entertain the kids and the geeks.

(Of course, they then got Wendy Padbury, who [being from the future] was able to take on some polysyllables AND wear some of the shortest skirts in the show's history! )

On totally unrelated trivia, Dudley is played by one of Troughton's grandsons….

I'll agree that those minisodes were a lot more brazen with the whole thing than most episodes, but did anyone else complain when New Earth aired? Dear God, they got so much crud past the radar on that one it was unreal.

In case people had not heard, Michael Gough died recently. He played the Celestial Toymaker in a William Hartnell story 45 years ago. He was going to reprise the role 20 years later, but that was the year that Michael Grade axed the show. (Gough probably is better known for playing Alfred the Valet on Batman, sadly...)

To bring the topic full cycle, he was married for a long time to Anneke Wills, who played Polly. Sadly, most of her episodes (with both Hartnell and Troughton) are lost, but she is another candidate for having worn the shortest minidresses on the show.....

You know how they always say that film trailers give everything away? That trailer gave away diddly squit.

It was bloody good though.

Well, it's for an entire season.

Although the "this is the day he finds out who I really am" sounds like it could be from the Gaiman ep.

Love it. I can't wait to see more of River Song. I think she is what I'm looking forward to most this season. (although wasn't Gaiman's ep supposed to be in last season? So it can't be any major revelation, can it?)

ETA: that trailer is fantastic. Matt Smith's Doctor and Moffats seasons seem to be shaping up to be my ultimate favorites.

There is something in the trailer that pertains to the climax of Episode 7, though from what's been said you won't really know what it is until you've seen episode 7 (a slap yourself in the head moment). Which ends on a massive game changing cliffhanger if you believe Moffat. Nice to see Nine and Ten's TARDIS console room in the trailer....

Perhaps. I really don't know much about the cliffhanger.

Rory can't die, that would be lame given the events of series 5.

Spoiler: show
Rory is apparently going to stumble onto the verge of making a tragic mistake of somekind.

Be prepared to be scared or feeling a bit pukey. I give thee the Silence/Silents (possibly).
Spoiler: show

That exchange about fearing Time Lord killers is priceless; that could wind up ranking up there with Tennant's Doctor noting that what monsters under the bed feared was The Doctor!

I refuse to speculate. No really, I'm more freaked out by these big-headed puppet kids. They will give me nightmares.
