Re: NCAA Basketball

I was pulling for Butler in that game for a few reasons. 1) I, as a UK fan, am by nature inclined to hate Duke 2) everyone loves an underdog and 3) I, as a UK fan, am by nature inclined to hate Duke.

They may have lost, but they put up one heck of a fight.

And Duke is probably still sobbing tears of joy that they didn't have to face UK this tourney and praying on bended knee that John Wall and Demarcus Cousins go NBA (which they probably will). Had to say it.

That was me too. Only I wasn't really a fan of any of the teams per say... I just wanted to see the underdog win.

And I definitely am proud of them (Butler), they did a really good job against Duke. And that's what matters -- that they tried.

I didn't watch it, but yeah it sounded like one heck of a game! 15 lead changes and a 61-59 final score?! Damn, should have watched it

Anyways, great effort Butler Too bad they couldn't pull it off. I too like to see the underdog win...and I hate Duke

Yea it sounded like it was a very close game... I wish I could have seen it too.

I know . I'm not really a Duke fan either.

Re: NCAA Basketball

I saw it and it was entertaining--and if the Bulldogs could have kept Duke under 60, they'd have won. I wish that half-court shot had gone in, but in spite of it being a competitive game--it felt like neither team could throw it in the ocean for long stretches. This wasn't Bird vs. Dominique, or the shot-clock inspirer, but it felt a lot closer to four corners offense than fast-break basketball.

Re: NCAA Basketball

No one's posting about this year's tournament?

Unfortunately, ND got crushed by the FSU defense (which is too bad because next year's definitely a rebuilding year). It looks like VCU has a serious shot at the Elite Eight and Butler has a fighting chance to get back there. There could be some small teams in serious contention here. I don't think anyone had VCU blowing out Purdue (even an undermanned Purdue). They were the team that the pundits pointed to when they said that some teams who didn't deserve bids got in. Look, they won their regular season conference and were a hard-fought game with ODU (wasn't it ODU?) away from an automatic bid. I think folks seriously underestimated them. It's unlikely, but it would be really entertaining if they made the Final Four.

Re: NCAA Basketball

This hasn't been touched in nearly three full years. Not even during Kentucky's run at '76 or Notre Dame's ACC run, or the wonky Elite Eight? Duke wins again. Hmm.
