Anyway, I don't read it since most Shounen series don't appeal to me in manga form, although, last week I did read the chapter, only because,

I didn't manage to finish the anime. I watched a lot of it, and a little bit of Shippuuden but then I lost interest. There were waay too many fillers. The manga is probably much better, but I can't motivate myself to start reading it because it's so long. I liked the plot and the characters, though. The only person that I couldn't stand at all was Sakura. Yes, she becomes quite strong later in Shippuuden, but before that she was nothing but annoying and useless. Why do there (almost) always have to be this weak, whiny female characters who are in love with the "bad ***" - protagonist who doesn't want them ? The other females were okay, though. Hinata isn't great either imo, but less annoying and more likeable.

I've only watched a few Naruto episodes and read a handful of fanfics...

I wasn't really interested in Naruto until someone lended me some DVDs of the series. I am not so interested in it, as I am with Yu Gi Oh. I mean, I do quite like ninja movies but for some reason it didn't really tickle my fancy. Secondly, it was quite drawn out and I got sick of listening to the theme tune. Apparently, Shippuuden is supposed to be quite good, but I think they looked cuter when they were kids, rather than adults. xD

I am hooked, addicted to the series at the moment. Managed to watch over 130 episodes in 1 1/2 weeks or so. I honestly didn't think I'd like it that much. Many characters, who are complex and have many flaws.

Hinata is like written there very shy and indeed lacks selfconfidence especially in the beginning. She has a crush on Naruto and finds the strenght to fight hard, when he cheers on her. I'd compare her to Ginny in her early years.

Or perhaps Hinata is more or less like Neville, later she develops herself better.
I love Naruto nearly as much as I love HP because for a manga, the characters are so well developed, with strengths and flaws and the storyline takes unforeseen twists. Also, the plot is consistent, like in HP, things that happened in the past have relevance in the present. Now the manga is at what looks like the final stages, and still going strong, even if not as strong as it used to be but it was more than 10 years of Naruto! I am looking forward to see the final fights.
P.D: I am a Sasuke lover, I can't help it. Also like Shikamaru and Lee by the way. Ah! and Kakashi, of course!

The first four seasons are on Netflix Watch Instantly. Just watched the whole first season the past few days, and am on Season 2 now. These first few episodes go all over the place. So confusing. They were on the race, then there are... flashback episodes, I guess? And what happened to the final round of the Chunin exams.... grr!

I don't want to spoil you too much, but they got a few weeks to train for the finals and those start in season 3. Just keep on watching.

I'm so into it that Masashi barely releases chapters and I'v read them. Madara sure is somthing, would say same about Uchiha Obito cause I thought the dude a loser.
