I like this series so much, it's quite unique, but it has too many details that I sometimes used to skip some parts, but I did really enjoy that series, I liked Foaly so much and Butler was awesome, Arty was special just like a Tom Riddle, at first I didnt have much patience with the book but Arty's managed to get me to the end of The Lost Colony Is Time Paradox a new one? I didnt know about it.

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

I still haven't read them all. Only the first three... no four. The Opal deception was the last I read. Shame on me. I loved the books, but for some reason I haven't read the rest.

Is The Time Paradox a new one...? It isn't new, but it is the last in the series so far.

I think Foaly was my top favorite; I loved his sense of humor. Butler comes next, followed by Arty and Holly in a tie.

Has anyone her read the graphic novel version of the first book? I got it from the library and it was awesome. I hear they're coming out with a second one.

I just looked it up, and it's coming out on August 11, 2009. Here's a picture of the cover.

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

And really, in the graphic novel, I pictured Holly differently... But then, I pictured Root and Foaly deifferent too. I kind of didn't like Foaly's hat. I was kind of expecting something more pointy

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

I just wanted to post that Amazon and Wikipedia have information about the 7th book!

Scroll down to 'Books In The Series'

Thanks Amazon!

I can't recall the specifications about bringing up old topics, but I didn't want to clutter up the board with a copy. I apologize if I did something wrong.

Yay, thank you for the information! I reserved my copy at the library, and there are already 48 people in line ahead of me.

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

I know this strictly speaking is in the right place, as this is the Artemis Fowl thread, but I didn't want to start a whole new thread about it, so...

In addition to the new Artemis Fowl book Clockworthy linked to (20th of July! ), Wikipedia also says that a sequel to The Supernaturalist is being published in 2010! This is taken from the Wiki article about The Supernaturalist 2, and is a quote from Eoin Colfer: (Warning: Contains spoilers from The Supernaturalist, hence the spoiler tags. )

Spoiler: show
Quote:
Well, the main idea is, well, at the end of book one, Stefan dies, but, being that they can see supernatural beings, in the second book, Stefan appears to Cosmo and tells him that they're all stuck in Limbo and can't get through to the afterlife, because something terrible is happening there, so it's an environmental thing as usual that's blocking the passageway to... forever, so they have to take care of that. But at the same time, they've got the Myishi Corporation trying to track them down.

Sounds interesting. I hope Wikipedia is correct, but the source link to Colfer's quote doesn't work. I don't really care if the book is published in 2010 as Wikipedia says or not, but 2011 or 2012 suits me too. Later than that might not be possible, as I have great plans for the future after 2012. Don't worry, they're nice plans. (And they're very unserious. I just think it's fun thinking about them and referring to them while talking to people who don't know anything about them. )

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

Colfer is an exeptional author IMO. His style of writing is brilliant, and very similar to JKR in some ways! From the moment I borrowed the first Fowl book from a friend I was completely hooked! I recommend these books to all Potter lovers.

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

I saw a post on Eoin Colfer's web site, about a competition for Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex. With this competition they have released the first chapter, and I can't decide if I want to read it now or wait until I have the whole book in my hands.

That was my first reaction when I found it, but it was very late (or really, early, as it was pretty close to morning), and I was so tired the letters where walking around on the screen in random directions, so I thought I'd leave it for another day. Now I've thought through it I think I'll wait for the book, because I think it's better read all at once, and I've got five different books that I'm reading (they spin around in my head all the time), plus my own stories. But I read the first chapter of the Time Paradox when that was released, I remember I couldn't wait until it came. But one day I might get really bored, and remember that I have the chapter of an unpublished book right here with me. I am bored quite often, so I'm not sure if I can stop myself from reading it before I have the whole book.

I look forward to the 20th of July, I hope I can order the book through my local book store. The description of it sounds promising, it can be found here.

I reserved the audiobook at the library now too. The kids are just winding up the "Time Paradox" audiobook.

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

I love the Artemis Fowl series! But somehow I can't quite see Artemis and Holly together. It's a bit too.. eww, for me . I wanted to see this romantic link between Holly and Trouble Kelp in Book 6 that Eoin Colfer had mentioned where was it? I hope Holly gets a good man/elf in Book 7, she deserves one!

It comes out exactly a week after my birthday... I know what I'm spending my birthday money on!

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

I never actually read the books, but I remember when I was younger I saw a bunch of other kids reading them. Was always curious as to what it was about. I don't know why I didn't read it. :/

They're pretty good. I've read the first 5 over the past few months.

I've read them all. All the way up to the newest one Atlantis Complex. I wouldn't mind reading them all over again. Even went so far as to get a copy of the Gnommish alphabet

Re: Artemis Fowl Thread

Atlantis Complex..I don't know what to think of it, considering I'm not 100% sure what was really going on. It was like an orphanage of abandoned plotlines that petered out three pages after they were introduced.
