Has anyone seen the horror anime, Another? I believe it's based off of a novel of the same name. I was very intrigued by it, as it's a bit different from what I've seen before. No designated hero or villain. It's just a whole lot of senseless death. It is only 12 episodes long, and I've heard it's supposed to be made into a movie at some point, in addition to the sequels planned for it in the future.

Anyway, I have a question. It seems that those who are connected to class 3 or the curse die. I mean the nurse died right after talking to her brother about the curse. How come Lung problems is fine. He's been poking at it from the beginning. How does it choose its victims?

From the looks of it, it doesn't seem to choose its victims. I believe the central point is that death simply claims at random, for no reason at all. If choice was involved, then the theme and conflict would be lost completely. These children are naturally innocent of any wrongdoings, the only fault they have is carrying the burden of class 3 on their backs.

I didn't think they had done anything wrong, but it just seems like whoever gets involved into it, dies. Except Kouichi or whatever his name is.

Well, by default, they are involved, seeing as they are apart of Class 3. And the relatives are involved as well, simply because some of their family members are in Class 3. But that is the only association for the curse. Everything else is just spontaneous and with no proper strategy.

Sparrow, I was under the impression that you wished to be fluent in many languages? How is this supposed to happen if you resent watching shows in different languages? How do you think I learned English, by being stubbornly opposed to the language just because I didn't know it?

You learned the same way I did. You had no choice. But I don't want to learn Japanese. And watching a movie with subtitles tires me. I'm not used to it.

I taught myself English . Practiced it with my awful accent on my best friend . But, you're right, I didn't have a choice. But, you'll get used to subtitles. It can't be that hard, I only started watching with subtitles last year. I was fine with it.

I taught myself too. Well sort of. I'm actually not sure how I learned it. I can't remember, I was too little. I don't like subtitles, They're distracting. It's hard to read and take in every detail of a scene. And I like details. o_O Good thing Another has more still frames than I have ever seen.

Your parents probably spoke to you a bit in English, and if you were surrounded by other English speakers, you would have picked the language up. I had to study from books . Came to the States knowing nothing.

Yes, my dad did speak English to me at times, and yes, I was surrounded by English speaking people. And now I mix English with Romanian and I make retarded mistakes in both, because I transliterate words, or I translate certain expressions word for word. It's funny to hear me speak with my dad or brother. Half a sentence in one language, half in the other. You had to learn from books? o_O But you were what, 4? You could have easily picked it up by just going to kindergarten.

But it's true. I had my last one yesterday. I didn't have the energy to concentrate on murderous curses.

I was 6, so that's when you start first grade. They wouldn't let me into school because I couldn't speak English, so I spent that year teaching it to myself until I was fluent . With my mom's help.

It's normal to go to school at 6 in the Czech Republic. Over here, I think they start pre-school at 3 or so.
