Olympics 2020 Tokyo
With everything going on in the world I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on how best to handle the Summer Olympic Games.
I'd like this to be non-confrontational, non-blaming, idea generating, kindness-seeking ways to deal with international sports competition in a way that can accommodate athletes in a healthy and safe environment.

Re: Olympics 2020 Tokyo
I do not think there is a any reasonable choice under current conditions but to delay it for probably a year.
Personally, though, I would rather see the whole Olympic movement snuffed out. The whole apparatus is utterly corrupt and sucks life out of all the sports' non-Olympics competitions.

Re: Olympics 2020 Tokyo
I agree that there is definitely some degree of corruption, but I'd like to hear more about the non-Olympic competitions to which you are referring.
Are there specific sports you have in mind? Sports not in the Olympics? Sports that are in the Olympics but are tarnished in the way they are presented in the Olympic light? Please share your perspective.

Re: Olympics 2020 Tokyo
I have read too much over the years about what a corrupt aristocracy the entire Olympics organization is. Too long to cover all of it here.
I think it is also toxic to the sports. A few, like basketball, have such an overwhelming non-Olympics presence that the Olympics is just an interlude. But so many of the other sports, such as gymnastics, swimming, skiing, track and field, shooting and archery, and a number of others have strong international competitions every year, but the Olympics becomes the focal point and detracts from the others. There are a few others which almost no one would ever see or be aware of if not for the Olympics - such as equestrian.
