Re: What did you correctly predict?

dumbledore's death, snape's goodness, voldemort's death, ron and hermione getting together, the locket that they found in book 5 being a horcrux

i thought the weasley twins were the two that were killed in place of the one who got a reprieve, but it was only one of them, so i'm guessing the pair that died were lupin and tonks

really did think harry would die...then i saw i had two more chapters to go and realized, hell no - he's coming back...

never realized that mrs. weasley had so much rage in her =D

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I totally knew Snape was in love with Lily, and I figured that Dumbledore had asked Snape to kill him, though I though he was communicating with him using Legilemency, didn't see the prior arrangement thing coming.

No, but he'll try

Will Harry take and pass his apparition test?
Yes

Will we meet a descendant of Ravenclaw's?
Yes

Will Gryffindor's sword play an important part in book 7?
Yes, he will destroy one or more of the Horcruxes with it

In Chamber of Secrets Dumbledore said that help will always be given at Hogwarts for those who seek it. Will this also have an impact on book 7?
Yes

What does the gleam of triumph in Dumbledore's eyes in book 4 mean?
In taking blood from Harry, Voldemort made a mistake that will lead to his downfall because of the protection his mother gave him

Will we get to know a goblin in book 7 as well as other creatures, like Dobby/Kreacher/Firenze etc?
Yes, Griphook

Will the Fobidden forest play a part in book 7?
Yes

Why was Lily given a chance to save her life and James not?
Voldemort had promised someone he would spare her

What were the two memories that Snape put into the pensieve before he started the occlumency lesson?
Something with Lily that will prove he is loyal to Dumbledore

Will Harry's scar play a part in book 7?
Yes, and it will help him in the horcrux hunt

Will Harry live?
Yes

Will Voldemort live?
No

Will Snape live?
No

Is there a Horcrux hidden in Hogwarts?
Yes

Did Snape, Lily and Petunia grow up in the area around Spinner’s End?
Yes

Is there going to be an attack at Bill and Fleur's wedding?
Yes

Is Nagini the snake a Horcrux?
Yes

Some other things I predicted that I got right are Lupin dieing, Tonks dieing, Room of Requirement hiding a horocrux, Snape being in love with Lily, Snape being good. There's a few more, but I can't remember. LOL

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I was right about...

the Dragon being from the deeps in Gringotts (yay!!).

Also right about:

-the identity of RAB
-that Lupin would die
-that Snape and Voldemort would die
-that Bellatrix would die
-that Bill and Fleur's wedding would be crashed
-that Lupin and Tonks would fall in love
-that Percy would reconcile with the family
-that Harry would return to Godric's Hollow
-that Harry would die (well, he did!)
-that a Horcrux was hidden in Gringotts in the vault that the dragon protected
-that Hagrid would live
-that Krum would return
-that Pettigrew would die
-that Pettigrew would protect Harry
-that Molly would not allow Ron to leave with Harry
-that the Room of Requirement would hold a horcrux
-that Harry would not return to Hogwarts as a student, but would return to locate a Horcrux

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I never made a lot of highly specific predictions, but a lot of my feelings were right.

I felt that if she killed a Weasley, that killing one of the twins would be the most emotional -- and it would be Fred, more specifically.
I felt that Harry would ultimately live and that whatever ever it was that caused the "gleam of triumph" would be his saving grace (rather than the means of destroying Voldemort).
I was certain that Moody was going to die, but I thought his death would have been more of a dramatic showdown where he took out tons of DEs.

There were also a bunch of other typical predictions I was right about (really bad guys dying, specific good guys living, people ending up together and so on...), but everyone has already listed those.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

My theory was that parseltongue could actually be learned, and it's not a completely magical ability. Dumbledore didn't need Harry to translate what was going on in the memories of the Gaunts, but I doubted he was born with the ability. I was proven correct, when Ron was able to imitate parseltongue closely enough to open the Chamber of Secrets.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Hmm...
1. Dumbledore's death was planned in some way or form
2. Snape being good and in love with Lily
3. Lupin dying
4. Trio would not return to Hogwarts
5. Harry was a horcrux (well, sort of...I thought it would be his scar so that's kind of partial...? oh come on, just give me credit! haha)
6. All of the lovely relationships
7. Neville would do something that proved he was truly a Gryffindor
8. Gringotts
9. Voldemort/Bellatrix/Peter/Snape would die
10. Harry would live

Definitely didn't predict the other deaths, which I suppose few did.

Heh...I was reading some of my past posts in other threads, and it turns out I was kind of right in predicting Snape would reveal everything through the Pensieve...=P cool!

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Out of all of my far out theories (which didn't come to pass ) The few I did get right were pretty good ones!!

-Snape truly was a hero
-Snape loved Lily
-Lily and Snape were childhood friends
-The tiara was a horcrux
-The tiara was in Albania AND in the RoR
-My second choice for the cup was Gringotts

Re: What did you correctly predict?

Well, I was wrong about Snape's loyality, but right that he would die.
I didn't think Harry would die.
Harry and Ginny being together, same for Ron and Hermione.
I had a feeling Lupin would die.
I thought Bella and Wormtail would die.
I thought Nagini was a horcrux, but didn't think Harry was one.
I thought Deathly Hallows were objects, not a place.
I was right about R.A.B. being Sirius' brother.
I was about Aberforth being the Order member we would get to know better.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I thought that someone would die within the first two chapters
I thought that when harry left privet drive with the order the death eaters would find him
I thought that death eaters would disturb the wedding
I thought that Kreacher had went with Regulus to get the locket
I thought that Snape was in love with Lily
I thought that Dumbledore was dying anyways during book 6
I thought that Dumbledore had planned for Snape to kill him
I was positive that Mad-Eye would die
I was positve that Snape would die
I was positive that Wormtail would die
I thought the trio would live
I knew R.A.B. was Regulus

That's all I can remember.
And during the book when I read about the silver doe I was positive it was Snape's.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I guessed that harry would live. I also believed him to be a horcrux, I thought it possible that one of the weasley twins to die, I knew lupin would die, i knew neville would play a big role in the end, I also believed snape to be good and that he loved lily and that his patronus would be the key in revealing this, I also thought that draco would get a chance to prove that he is not as bad as what everyone believes him to be like with snape. I also knew ginny and harry and hermione and ron would get married.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

About the Malfoys. I would tell anyone who would listen to me that Draco would turn away from Voldemort since HBP.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I correctly predicted:
  • Voldemort, Snape, Wormtail, Lupin and Bellatrix would die
  • Nobody in particular would lead the Order
  • RAB's identity (though I guess everyone else did too)
  • Hogwarts reopening
  • Harry returning to Hogwarts but not as a student
  • Second Battle of Hogwarts.
  • Dumbledore's portrait helping.
  • Snape on the good side.
  • Snape loving Lily.
  • Dumbledore arranging his own death at the hands of Snape.
  • Wormtail repaying the life-debt? I'm still not sure if he actually did...
  • Aberforth being the new Order member we know but haven't seen yet?
  • No answer to the eternal question of "What on earth was Aberforth Dumbledore doing with those goats?"
  • Voldemort dying via AK (well, I actually said love room and/or AK...does it count?)
  • Attack on the wedding
  • The dragon being one we haven't seen before
  • Neville being the new Herbology teacher
  • Goblins remain neutral
  • The Deathly Hallows represent plot points in a symbolic way (perhaps for another day)
  • WWII allusions.

Anyone know what happened to the DH prediction contest thread? The comments thread is still up?

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I hit it dead on that Harry was going to continue the practice that Dumbledore long used of calling Voldemort 'Tom Riddle' when he was to finally speak directly to Voldemort in the final confrontation.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I correctly predicted mostly little things that were right:
-The Peverell family would be important
-Aunt Muriel would be at the wedding and give Harry some information
-Harry, Ron and Hermione would be on the run and have to deal with details about hiding themselves, making polyjuice potion and who would do the cooking.

I sadly have always predicted Fred and George, but I was only half right. I know it sounds terrible, I really wouldn't want to add another Weasley death, but in some ways I'd rather they both had died and went on to death as if to the next great adventure together rather than George having to go on with Weasley's Wizard's Wheezes by himself. I find that unutterably sad.

I used to be of the mind that the final battle would happen at Hogwarts with help from the DA, house-elves, Nearly Headless Nick, Order of the Phoenix members showing up , Grawp and even the portraits. After the U.S cover art came out I changed my mind.

Re: What did you correctly predict?

I correctly predicted the deaths of Moody, Snape, Voldemort, Wormtail, and Lupin. I also said that I think that the Weasley twins will die, I didn't specify one though.
