Re: The new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher
I've always imagine the new DADA teacher as some one who is new and fresh and hasn't been introduced before (most of the DADA teachers in the series would kind of fall under this).
But if I had to pick from an already-known character I would like it to be Bill Weasley (although that's unlikely). Or an ex/defected Death Eater would also make an interesting teacher! |

Re: The new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher
Let's see again,
1. Bill Weasley: the most likely candidate among the known wizards and witches IMO. 2. Amos Diggory: As already said, he could have joined the Order, but didn't. 3. Luscius Malfoy: the candidate most likely from the ex/defected DE camp. I don't know though. I doubt Mcgonagal and Kingsley would trust him. 4. Anyone from Harry's year: Nevile is the only teacher from that generation, and it ain't him. 5. witch/wizard unknown: the other strongest possibility. |

Re: The new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher
This is actually a fair question. If Harry weren't off revolutionizing the Auror service, I'd say he'd be the likliest war vet from his class to apply for the job. I...honestly don't know. I would think there'd be considerable uproar if Bill took the job (remember the firestorm over Remus?).
No possible way even Harry would trust old Lucius. Draco might be a possibility, but I'd think most survivors of the last war would be leery of having their children and grandchildren taught DADA by Draco. Madam Bones was a war casualty. Maybe Susan inherited some of her talent and the crucible of the struggle motivated her to pursue this. Kingsley replaced Fudge, he's got way too much on his plate. It is a puzzle.

Quote:
Just because Molly killed off crazy Bella with her mother love power doesn't mean she knows anything about DADA. Of the people known to us, I'd go for Bill Weasley. He is NOT a werewolf so I see no problem there. On the other hand Kingsley is interim minister according to JKR, so he would be a good candidate too.

Neville Longbottom, although the lesson would consist of him forgetting what he's supposed to be teaching half the time.

Re: The new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher
He could be both. I'd argue that in the Deathly Hallows,he proved himself that he is a worthy wizard with the way he stood up to Voldemort.
