I just watched Wild Target with Rupert and he reminded me of Ron...the blundering sidekick who's in the right place at the right time

![]() And YES about Dame Maggie Smith in Sister Act. Sister Act came out years before HP did, and I remember when I first saw HP, I was really young, and I was like 'whoa, it's Mother Superior!!' I still, to this day, can't watch Smith play McGonagall without thinking of her nun counterpart... they were pretty similar! ![]() |

Re: Noticing HP Actors in Other Movies
Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow has a few HP actors in it. Michael Gambon, Miranda Richardson, and Richard Griffiths. Forgive me if I forgot any.
It also has three Star Wars villains as well...Christopher Lee who was Dooku, Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine and Ray Parks (who played the Horseman without the head) was Darth Maul. I just find it amusing that this movie has a lot of actors from two of my favorite film series. I also just found out that Richard Griffiths is going to play King George II in Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides.

I also forgot that Miranda Richardson played Madame Giry in The Phantom of the Opera.

Re: Noticing HP Actors in Other Movies
I was rewatching GoF today and when we got to the scene where McGonagall teaches them to dance, my friend said, "She's doing her Miss Jean Brodie, isn't she?" She was, too!
I also got a bit of a shock when I watched Troy and realised Brendan Gleeson was playing Menelaus. I didn't think I'd ever seen him before Harry Potter.

Guy Henry (Pius Thicknesse) is in Holby City (a British medical drama) as Henrik Hanssen. That creeped me out when I bought Deathly Hallows on DVD

Re: Noticing HP Actors in Other Movies
I saw Jason Isaac in Peter Pan. Didn't really realized it was him at first, though, explained while the pirate looked familiar. He fitted the role of Captain Hook.
And I love almost all of the films Helena Bonham Carter is in. I love her and Tim Burton, they're an amazing pair.

Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter were fantastic in Sweeney Tood. Rickman was Judge Turpin and Carter was Mrs Lovett. Amazing movie!!!

Re: Noticing HP Actors in Other Movies
I think these are quite well know ones so they've probably already been mentioned, but:
The father in Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is David Thewlis (Lupin) Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter and whoever plays Wormtail are all in The Kings Speech. Alan Rickman was the Caterpillar in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. And my friend spotted Gary Oldman in the Red Riding Hood trailer, and yelled "Sirius Black!" so loud I think the whole cinema might have jumped...

Re: Noticing HP Actors in Other Movies
I'm sure this has been reported on here, but I only sifted back through the last couple pages, but I just discovered young Grindelwald = the dude that sings "Joanna" in Sweeney Todd. Forgive me, I'm not a huge fan of the movie or musical so I don't know the actual character's name. I do like that song though. He's got quite a nice voice!

Re: Noticing HP Actors in Other Movies
I watched The Big Lebowski with a friend this weekend and was amazed to learn David Thewlis appears (albeit very briefly). I have to confess my friend spotted him first and I was so amazed I had to confirm on IMDB.com.

The only time I've seen Timothy Spall miscast is in The King's Speech (as Churchill).
