Well I don't know if I should even say this here but not to long ago a company released a "Firebolt" broomstick... you could sit on it and it would vibrate... After many calls from concerned parents about their kids' um... enthusiastic response... the product was taken off the market...

Ok, the Firebolt thing? I laughed so hard I choked on my coffee.
Seriously. I literally choked and spit coffee halfway across the room.

I love this board.

lol well I'm glad you said it because that item was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this thread, but I wasn't brave enough to write it! You can still find those on ebay, by the way.

I remember reading about that one in People magazine (if I remember correctly). It made me laugh just reading the article itself !

I've seen owl pellets wrapped with HP packaging. You know, those things owls spit up that contain the bones and fur and hair of whatever they've eaten and can't digest?

My best friend offered to buy it for me. I took the CoS pop-up book instead.

Don't laugh, but eBay is a good place to get these things too. I just got a Ravenclaw knit cap and scarf, brand new, for a total of 15 bucks after shipping.

My favourite is the replica of the Monster Book of Monsters. The funniest part about it would be that the fact that it vibrates when you pull it's tongue is so very random and un-monsterish.

I got this one in an e-mail many moons ago and I literally burst out laughing at the thought lol and I am pretty sure I have had some junk mail with more um...'adult' things in regards to HP...those would be the strangest things I have seen lol but they are too rude to mention on here.

I don't think I have seen much strange HP artefacts really....I don't visit toy stores much! I'm deprived lol!

At one point, I remember seeing Harry Potter shampoo and conditioner at my local Raley's. I also remember when they sold Harry Potter toothpaste. I used to use it all the time when I would brush my teeth.

Re: What's the funniest item of HP merchandise you've seen?

I had this Harry Potter game thing.
It was a Levitating Obstacle and it had all these weird gadgets that you had to get the ball through. There was a fan underneath the ball to make the ball "levitate" in the air and go through all the hoops and stuff. A Harry figurine was in the middle and you could move him and it would look like he's levitating the ball with his wand.
The funny thing about it was that a Snape-like voice would just boom out at you at the most random times. It would say "CONCENTRATE!" or "STEADY!" and I got really frightened sometimes (I was still little.).
Not too funny, but I thought I'd share.

And the Firebolt Broomstick is hilarious.

Re: What's the funniest item of HP merchandise you've seen?

Mine was a horribly fake piece of merchandine in a poundshop:

it was essentially a cheap copy of Harry Potter with ginger hair and lame accessories.
And it was called (you'll love this) Harry Petter
Only the 'e' was made into such a shape that it looked like an 'O', only the fact I was so confused they could circumvent copyright laws led me to examine it closely enough to see it was an 'e'

Oh, I just remembered that I also have a toothbrush that has Hermione on it.
I also have this promo gadget for PoA, I don't know if you could buy it in a store though. It's like a wooden case with a HP plaque, and it contains a glass orb with stand, and a delicate teacup and a tin with tealeaves. So basically it's a "divination for beginners" set.

The Vatican would have a field day with that one

Re: What's the funniest item of HP merchandise you've seen?

cool! i love the toast and the toothpaste and shampoo! if there was a supermarket that sold everyday objects with harry potter on the packaging, id get a heart attack!
anyway, i have a photocopied version of the american goblet of fire book. its from vietnam and the paper was bond paper and you can even see the ink lines made by the photocopying machine. and one time, water was dropped on the front cover (i think it was because it was raining and i had my book out) and a bit of the cover blotched.
