^ What mysterious said.

We use a forum software which we find the best on the market in many ways, but unfortunately none of them is perfect in everything.

Re: Comments on: Technical Issues

I have a strange question. Is there any possible way for me to go back and see all my previous posts without having to search through the forums for hours?

Yep, go to your profile and then statistics. Or via the dropdown menu (which has the find more posts by you option) coming up when you click on your name in a post in any thread.

Re: Comments on: Technical Issues

I'm having some issues with the youtube code. When I try to embed a video in a post with [*yt][/yt*] (without the * of course), on the bottom of my browser, it says "error" & the video doesn't show up on the post. I'm not sure if it's just my browser & I just can't see it. Let me know if you can see this video

I can't see it, and I can tell you what you are doing wrong.

You are entering this as the code:

[yt]<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/632pCs5rLDw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/632pCs5rLDw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>[/yt]

Instead you should take the id of the video '632pCs5rLDw' (the letters after /v/ and before ?) and have this:

[yt]632pCs5rLDw?[/yt]

Therefore the video comes up as:

Re: Comments on: Technical Issues

I can't see it, but I think the problem is that you use the full 'embedded code' given at YouTube, but the [*yt] [*/yt] over here do the same job already. So when you write

[yt*]<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/632pCs5rLDw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/632pCs5rLDw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>[/yt]

you only need

[*yt]632pCs5rLDw?fs[/yt]

and then it works:

(Wait. Is there a whale at the backseat of the car? )

ETA: Arry beat me to it.

Actually you don't need the ?fs either. [*yt]632pCs5rLDw[/yt] works well too.

The way I think of it, you just take the URL:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=632pC...layer_embedded

and cut out everything up to and including the first equal sign.

Then put yt and /yt in brackets before and after it.

Question: Do non-Potter forums show how many people are viewing them? Maybe I'm a bit daft but I've only just noticed that the Potter forums do...

Re: Comments on: Technical Issues

I usually click on the Statistics tab, on my profile page, to find where my last post was in a particular thread. Not it is highlighted and every time I click on it I get this game site. Even if I close the box it comes right back as soon as I toggle over the word again.

edit: When I went back through a cached page it wasn't a problem anymore.

Really simple question, I'm feeling more than usually daft - how do I change the background designs to the forum?

Ah! ok, found it - just ignore me

I suppose you mean the little image in the upper left corner next to your username? It's the avatar. One can upload an avatar once one has been invited into Hogsmeade. For further information on Hogsmeade and avatars, check out the Hogsmeade FAQs and the Hogsmeade Review Guidelines.

The image for the Skype link under the user information associated with a post is broken.

Never mind. It just came up. Sometimes it doesn't though.

Re: Comments on: Technical Issues

Okay, another totally daft question:

In the past, whenever I've used my internet browser tools to delete cookies, files, passwords etc. I've had to log back in when I've come back to CoS or anywhere else.

Today I've deleted everything in my browser history twice, and I'm still logged in to CoS, Facebook, gmail etc.

What is up with that? Is it my machine, or has MicroSoft reinterpreted the meaning of Delete Browsing History in the past week or two?

Re: Comments on: Technical Issues

Both Internet Explorer and Firefox have boxes to check as to whether or not you want passwords to be deleted when you delete browsing history. Maybe a gremlin, or a software update, changed the settings in your computer.
