I saw a picture of it and the person looks nothing like Lavener. I think it's a unknown teacher.

I think what was left of Voldemort's soul was that deformed baby thing Harry saw in the spirit King's Cross station. He's going to be trapped there between here and the afterlife forever.

I agree. Rather serves him right.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
I do agree though that JK went a little kill-crazy with the Grandparent generation. I understand why it was necessary to kill off James' and Lilys' parents, and maybe even Snapes'. But why the Weasley Grandparents too? I meant, Arthur's mom was a Black and it would've been interesting to meet a Black who gave up everything to marry a Blood Traitor.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
Do Hogwart students take a special exam in the end of their sixth year?
I know in years 1-4 they take the end of year exam. But in year 5 they take their O.W.L exam and in 7th year they take the N.E.W.T exam. So do they just take a regular end-of-year exam in 6th year or no exam at all (I can't remember if in HBP they took an exam)? |

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
In HBP I thought they all went home early because of Dumbledore's death/funeral and so everyone missed their exams. I'd have expected them to have in-house exams at the end of the 6th year though. There is no indication they were preparing for external ones.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
It occurs to me that they don't take regular exams at the end of year 6. I understand the British school system is actually 6 and 6 1/2 forms instead of 6 and 7, so to me it makes sense for there to be no 6 yr exam.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
This didn't seem important enough for its own thread, but it's not exactly a question that can be answered via the series:
How do you think Dumbledore reacted to Harry's use of Sectumsempra? He never confronts Harry on the issue.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
He didn't need to. Harry was punished for it and Dumbledore likely believed that it was an accident. I don't remember if it is mentioned in the books but I think Harry would have told McGonagall and Snape that he read it from a book and didn't know what it would cause.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
was Snape's punishment too strict or too lenient for what Harry did?
I also think it helped that Harry was truly sorry for what he did. |

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
A little too much I think. I guess it had to do with the spell. If the spell had been less dangerous, his punishment probably would have been less.

Prof. McGonagall did tell Harry he was lucky not to have been expelled so I expect Dumbledore knew all about the incident.

Well, Draco escaped any and all punishment for anything he did throughout the series...

Perhaps an appropriate discussion for the Plot Holes and Inconsistency thread?

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
He did have a detention 6th year with McGonagall that we know about, so it's possible he had others we don't. And don't forget about first year, his detention in the forest. Which was the only one Harry got that year as well.

It was an accident. It should have been around two or three detentions.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.21
One thing I noticed is that, usually, in order to get detention, you have to misbehave in front of a Professor or Prefect. Draco usually immediately stops what he's doing when he sees an authority figure, and he also seldom "back talks" someone in authority (I can only think of one exception to this). We only see Draco argue with Snape once, and that's when both thought they were alone (HBP - when Snape confronted him about needing help to do his Voldy assigned task).
