Norwegian / Norsk

If you want to know anything about the norwegian translations of the Harry Potter books this is the place to ask. I'm sure the other norwegians on COS will assist you and if not, I'll pop in a few times a week. Maybe you want to know the norwegian word for Quidditch or maybe you want to know what George is named in Norwegian. Just ask, and I'll answer as good as I can (or you can google it:P)

Re: Norwegian / Norsk

Hej!

Sure, I understand everything you are saying, but I expect it's a bit harder for you to understand norwegian. I don't know for certain how much Norwegian the swedish and the Finnish understand.

Re: Norwegian / Norsk

Finnish is not related to the Nordic languages. It's not even Indo-European.

Re: Norwegian / Norsk

Hei! I am also norwegian, so I can help with the translation too!

"Jeg elsker deg" is nice to know! Especially if you have a norwegian boyfriend or girlfriend:P

Hvordan har du det? Jeg er fine, tak. How close is this to Norwegian? It is in Danish.

I know how irritating it is not to understand anything of what is said, even if your not very interested, so I'll write a translation of what I said:

Hello, all Norwegians!
Isn't there more of us here? Or is it just that not everyone has seen this thread/takes some time to say they're here?

This is very close to Norwegian, except that we would Have said 'Jeg har det bra, takk' instead of 'Jeg er fine, tak'. Norwegian and Danish is very similar, because Bokmål (also called Dano-Norwegian), the most used Norwegian standard language, is based on Danish. (The other standard language is Nynorsk, used by about 10 % of the Norwegian population.)

Re: Norwegian / Norsk

Rumpeldunk. That's ... hillarious.

Uh... if you don't understand - just ask. I'm too lazy to translate to Swedish. :]

Re: Norwegian / Norsk

Yeah, I agree that the translations can be very bad sometimes. But some of them are fun! I also like the english version of HP better than the norewegian one, 'cause I don't think everything fits and sounds that good when they translate it.

Hei, koselig å se deg her!
