Re: Swedish / Svenska

Hello! I'm Norwegian, and I can't speak/write Swedish much more than I can fly, but I understand it pretty well. It's quite like Norwegian, really. And about the same grammar, I think.

But I have a question: Can Swedish people understand Norwegians as good as we understand you?
I read somewhere that Norwegians understand both Danish and Swedish better than Swedish people understand Norwegian and Danish, and Danish people understand Norwegian and Swedish. I just wonder if it is true?

Re: Swedish / Svenska

I'm German, learned Swedish back at uni and understand some bits of Norwegian, so I guess it works. But maybe a Swedish person can answer this one better.

Re: Swedish / Svenska

I don't understand eighter Norweigan or Danish that easy... But I belive Norwegian is easier and Danish is very much harder.

Hejs :) Jag kommer från Stockholm och jag pratar svenska ganska bra. Eftersom det är mitt modersmål. Det är roligt att se att så många från andra länder bryr sig om att lära sig vårt "lilla" språk ^^;
Och hej på er svenskar också :)

Re: Swedish / Svenska

Well, I don't find Danish too easy to understand either! But Swedish isn't too hard (though some dialects, like the Skåne dialect, I don't understand much).

My grandfather's sister lived in Sweden until she died this Januar (I think), so I have some relatives in Sweden, though I don't know them very well, unfortunately.

Aw, ok.
Wow, that's quiet far north. I've only been around Oslo. But I can imagine it's beautiful there. ^^;

Do you think written Swedish or written Danish is the easiest to understand by the way?

Yes, it's really beautiful here!

I think written Danish is easiest to understand, but it is because the Norwegian Bokmål is based on Danish. But I understand written Swedish almost as good as written Danish!

I do understand it, but not very well! But I think it's harder for me as I have to consentrate a bit just to understand other Swedish dialects.

Var inte ledsen, antingen är man eller så har man ingen aning

Really? Well, it's great that she can understand him. Sounds a bit rough though. Where in Skåne is he from? (Like west or east or south?)

Nja.. Inte precis.

Aow, yeah. Guess Malmö might be worse, I'm mostly in Lund and I've never met anyone there that was hard to understand.

Re: Swedish / Svenska

Hei hei!
I'm from norway, and I just wanted to say hi to all the swedish people out there...

I have a question, and I think this could be the right place to ask..
I know it's pretty stupid, but I just wonder, you know, we have theese "svenske-vitsene" ("the swedish jokes" or something). Do you have jokes in sweden about all the stupid, norwegian guys??
