My grandparents never taught my dad either. I want to learn it too, Rosetta stone does have a Polish Program, and I heard the program works wonders.

There's also this site :

It's a Small World, isn't it?

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear Rosetta has one and I'll definitely have to try it out.

Cheers.

Re: Polish / Polski

Well, this thread has been quiet for a while.

I'm getting a bit depressed by how much my Polish is deteriorating. My reading knowledge is actually quite good (I read a few Polish books a year and try to look at Wyborcza and Rzeczpospolita from time to time), but I'm really forgetting a lot of incredibly basic grammar, my written Polish has deteriorated from upper intermediate to basic level, through lack of practice, and my spoken Polish is rubbish to non-existent right now.

If there are any Polish speakers on here (either native or learners) who'd like to help me practise, I'd be very grateful.

Re: Polish / Polski

I was raised on Polish, but I have an accent in it, and I'm told my grammar is pretty bad. It's hard keeping it up when you live in an english speaking country.

I can't read or write it though.

Wow, I haven't checked this thread in ages... Might as well answer now. Sorry for the extremely late reply!

My family is mostly from Wroclaw.

Thanks. Really? I know it's "Mieszkam w Anglii", oczywiście, but how do you say "I am from England" or "I come from England"?

Trams are great! If it's small, we'd probably call it a "town", not a "city" (although technically any town with a cathedral is a city).

Re: Polish / Polski

Actually I'm not able to understand much Polish. Sometimes I get a bit of what friends talking about (perhaps even better if I know about the context already), but that's it.

Just when I had to write an article under a Polish publisher I had to read and understand their quotation rules. My own interpretation was OKish, but also funny in some lines, where I totally didn't get it. I was happy that said friend explained to me that 'stron' is pages but not lines or something, because the amount of what I was allowed to write didn't make so much sense beforehand.
