Re: Tamil

Are you calling me dirty?!

[staff edit]

Anyway.

How do you say "Excuse me"? I think that's the most important phrase in any language.

...when will you learn to just google anything I say... it is a SPN reference...

I actually don't know that phrase. I would say "Konje thali koudeva", which means, "Could you move just a little bit" .

It's hardly the most polite of things to say .

Sorry chole! (Just say "Sorry" or "Excuse me"). "Chole" means "say". "Cholenga" means "say", but you are directing it at someone.
Yeah, I was kind of looking for a phrase to apologise for whatever it is I know that I'm going to do wrong "get out of my way" is not really the most effective way to say that.

So, the English "sorry" is pretty standard stuff?? I actually heard that in Hong Kong more than the Canto equivalents. You should ask your dad if you hear the same thing in India??

[isn't my turning this into our own chatroom worse than the thread falling to disuse? ]

Remember how I taught you these? I bet you already forgot them. Remember, when saying "we go", you say, "Nangal poraa", but when saying "you go", you would say, "Ni po".

I just worsened it with my first comment . Wanna see how long it takes until they decide to close it down?
I don't even know what you're supposed to do in a language thread. I wanted to make one for Esperanto, but then I realised I had no idea what I would put in it.

Are you allowed to teach me things here? Or will we be relocated for communicating in English in a Tamil thread? fear of the mods.

...you writing some lyrics, there? Singin' a song? This is a Tamil thread. You should write a Tamil song, lest your posts be edited. o.O

Yes, well. That's exactly why I didn't make the thread.

my arse is in full agreement
Okay, next you should teach me how to introduce myself. "My name is..." or "I am.." ...in fact, you should do "this is..." and "that is..." ... "he is..." "she is..."

Just give me all of the conjugations.

As long as he's singing in TAMIL.

Conjugations...there is no such thing here . And "is" is never used . Ok, "Na paireh", is "My name is", and "Onh paironh" is "his/her name is".

Ok, here is how you say "I don't want" - "Vendama".

I'm sorry. Your the one who said the word in the first place! To be honest, I think we just look like wannabes. An accurate statement.

but but but

you have "po" and "poraa" ..isn't that a conjugation?

What I have read here will remain etched on my brain forever

How do you say that in Tamil?

Re: Tamil

I suppose it's time for a reminder (based on earlier posts) to keep things family friendly. Non FF and completely off-topic parts of the posts have been edited. Any such further posts will get the posters warning points/bans and will get the thread locked. Thanks.

Re: Tamil

Hm, what do I know about Tamil WITHOUT looking it up? it is a language spoken in Sri Lanka and some aprts of Southern India. It is one of two major languages spoken in Sri Lanka, actually, the other one being Singhalese. And I colelct Bibles in different languages and, surprise, surprise, I have got one in Tamil! Interesting script!
