Re: Rate / Review the Last Film you've seen v.3
Robin Hood (2010)
Acting- 8.5 Script- 7 Visuals- 9 Sound- 8.5 Editing- 7 Total Score = 80 Verdict- High production values and good cast but as a convoluted prequel to the familiar Robin Hood story it struggles to maintain interest.

Megamind
10/10 Not just because it was the first movie I've seen in enjoyable 'digital' 3D *red-blue 3d dvd's are not enjoyable*, but also because I'm a sucker for villain redemption stories. Funny stuff and great use of classic music.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - 9/10 - A film about violence against women, period - not the "broader" issue of crime, violence in general, etc. but specifically about misogyny - loved it. Also, very well made, riveting, tingling suspense, great acting. I just don't understand why the original title wasn't kept - it's perfect.

I just recently watched the movie Momento. I was unfamiliar with the actors except for Carrie Ann Moss whose role really was to serve the plot and not get bogged down in stardom. It was really complicated seeing as it was more of a why done it than a who done it. The main character has short term memory loss and the movie works in reverse chronological order. Very good although it was never meant to be a box off ice smash. 7.5 out of 10 |

Stuart Little
Charming family movie. The cats were hilarious. Some of their lines cracked me up. Snowbell (referring to the cats hunting Stuart): "Hey come on guys, give him a break" Other Cat: "Yeah sure, that's what we'll do. First we'll break his arms, then we'll break his legs, then we'll take a break!"

Re: Rate / Review the Last Film you've seen v.3
Batman (1966) - 8.5/10
This completely absurd film has got to be the most enjoyable "superhero film" (if you even want to call it that) ever produced. Occasionally, everyone just wants to watch a film they don't have to take seriously, one that's so deliberately campy you can't help noticing. This version of Batman does more than fill that role; it defines the very notion of camp itself. Nonetheless, you should really enter this film with a mental disclaimer not to take anything in it seriously or at face value. Everything about this film is genius. The lack of character development, the utter illogic of the "dynamic duo's" riddle interpretations, the omnipresence of ridiculous gadgets like "shark-repellent bat spray," the irony of Robin's comments during his obvious jealousy, the actual appearance of "fighting" words during a "fight" scene... everything in this entire film is like a comment on the ludicrous history of comic book plot developments. The camp is rendered even more brilliant by Adam West's ability to make his frequently oblivious comments sound entirely serious. Reasons to watch this film? Two words: exploding shark. That early scene alone is worth sitting through the rest, but other scenes like "some days you just can't get rid of a bomb," the "fight" scene on the submarine, and especially the ending at the UN all provide ample material for conoisseurs of human folly (thank you Mr. Bennet). I don't think I've ever seen a film where I so frequently put my forehead to my palm while shaking my head sadly. So if you are the sort who enjoys the ironic pleasure of films designed to be so bad that they loop over into greatness, give this one a look. Quote:

RED - 4/10
It's lucky that I wasn't watching for the plot. I did quite like the pig, though.

Re: Rate / Review the Last Film you've seen v.3
"Over The Top"
Could have been a half decent movie about a hard working truck driving father building a relationship with his estranged son, without all the dumb arm-wrestling stuff. "House Arrest" Watchable only for the hilarious Wallace Shawn, and the delicious Jennifer Love Hewitt. "New Moon" Watchable. I like Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene. Taylor Lautner seems like a nice kid too. But the sight of the wolfboys walking around shirtless was just laughably stupid, as was the effort to shoehorn Robert Pattinson into getting more screentime. The Volturi made me laugh. The vampires as a whole in the Twilight series are the most watered down, weak versions of vampires I've ever seen, and that includes Count Duckula. "Training Day" Awesome movie. Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington were both top quality in it. A movie that really asks the audience to decide what "good" or "evil" is. In this movie, the cops come across as more dangerous and corrupt than the criminals they pursue.

Re: Rate / Review the Last Film you've seen v.3
500 days of summer
6/10 I liked the non linear story line, the quirky opening, the energy, the film score and some if not most of the cinematography. I also liked Zooey Deschanel’s performance. However, I thought the plot was weak and the characters underdeveloped. I particularly disliked Joseph Gordon-Levitt performance and was annoyed at the inclusion of the little sister (no where near “Gregory’s Girl” standards). I knew immediately while watching this, it was a directorial début. The direction is all over the place, there were too many different techniques on show and too many conflicting and inconsistent character traits. I found it disturbingly bitter in some parts, prompting me to suspect that not only is story based on a real girl, but the director is also injecting some of his own experience in there too. Overall in my opinion it was terribly cliché, inconsistent, mishmash of several other films. To be honest I am very worried about how the director Mark Webb, will handle the 2011 Spider-Man reboot; not so much for the franchise, but for the reputation of Andrew Garfield.

Cherry Bomb.
Character development was lacking, by the end I really had so much indifference towards the three of them. Not a particularly original or interesting storyline either IMO. Average in just about every way. 5/10.

Naked Gun: From the files of Police Squad -- 8/10
Just re saw this movie yesterday and it still made me laugh as much as it did the first time that I saw it. Some of the gags are a little lame at times, but in spite of it, it's still a good funny movie to see every now and then ![]()

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Acting- 7.5 Script- 7.5 Visuals- 9 Sound- 7.5 Editing- 8 Total Score = 79 Verdict- one of the silliest movies I've seen in a while, but very unique and I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it fun and/or entertaining. ![]()
