New Headmaster of Hogwarts Candidates

Flitwick would be a great choice, but if we're looking for some younger canditates I would pick Neville! But that's only because I know no one else. I picture the Headmaster of Hogwarts to be someone who has worked at Hogwarts before, just like how Dumbledore was Transfiguration professor before he became Headmaster of Hogwarts.

I have to pull a "Death of the Author" with this one.

I don't care what J.K. says. I just can't see McGonagall retiring from the position of Headmistress. McGonagall would probably stay there until she dies, or has some other serious issue come up (in which case, I think it's likely she dies soon afterwards).

Professor Flitwick would be perfectly fine as a Headmaster. If McGonagall stepped down, Flitwick would step up. Professor Vector, Professor Sinistra, and the other Professors would get in line.

Eventually, Neville Longbottom very well could end up being Headmaster (though certainly not at this point. He's still young. He's still near the bottom on the Hogwarts totem-pole).

Actually, Neville is teaching Herbology. It's entirely possible that position opened up because Professor Sprout moved up to be Headmistress.
