(2) Neville – He is unaware of the prophecy, let alone his ultimate destiny – to vanquish Lord Voldemort. This might support a theory that Neville will never find out about the prophecy. When Neville finally realizes that he’s the only remaining wizard to take on the Dark Lord, he will do so because it’s the right thing to do and not because he’s “suppose” to because of a prophecy. Neville will summon everything that put him into Griffyndor in the first place to accomplish this.

No character in the story has a clear understanding of the prophecy. This is, I believe, how Rowling orchestrated her characters to have free choice while still fulfilling their destinies.

I tend to think that Neville knows more about the prophecy than Harry. It could be that he knows more about them, in general, due to having been raised as a wizard. But if you go back and see what was going on during the fight at the ministry, Neville was VERY adamant that Harry not allow the DE to get the orb. He seems to have recognized the significance of it, wayyyy more strongly than Harry does.

Also, I am in the camp that thinks Neville has had his memory modified and/or his magic bound. Look how much stronger he got after he got his own wand... look how well he did during the fight, he was the last one standing with Harry... or was Harry the last one standing with him?

Neville's family was probably told about the prophecy, same as the Potters. After the Potters were killed, and later, the Longbottoms tortured, I would presume that Granny L was all about keeping Neville safe, at all costs. If someone had done a memory charm on him, it could have damaged his ability to access his magic. It has made him forgetful as well.

I just thought of this too.. look at the significance of that Remembrall, in Bk1.
It is very similar to the orb of the prophecy, isn't it?

It is Neville's. Malfoy wants it. Harry saves it from Malfoy, for Neville.

Granted, Draco holds the remembrall, and Lucius doesn't hold the prophecy, but other than that, it is a similar circumstance.

The remembrall even has fog in it. Verrrry interesting! hmm...

Maybe, if Neville is the one to vanquish Voldy, he will more prominently come into his own in DH. I completely think there is more to Neville than meets the eye.
