Yes, it is. My friends know already. Apparenlty, I get this sort of gleam in my eye when Im secretly talking about HP in a normal conversation. They go like, "OH MY GOD! You go that from Harry Potter! " and then point at me and I just laugh. I was morbid when the Deathly Hallows depression hit me though...

I feel like the magic is slowly fading, but I also feel like I, and anyone else who bothers trying, has the ability to create something new, with just as much magic, if not more.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I have read the book 3 times... and then put it back in my DH Collector's Box.

Nowadays, I listen to the audiobook read by Jim Dale.
Can't really count the number of times I've listened to it.
Right now, I'm at the chapter of "The Forest Again..."
Everytime I get to the Hogwarts Battle part, I just get so excited.
Esp. the part about Snape's memory and the battle conversation between Harry & Voldemort.

I don't mind watching a 4hr DH movie version as long as nothing critical is left out. There's too many important details, which will give the screenwriter a big headache. lol

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

Post-Hallows Depression hasn't hit me yet. I still haven't done a complete re-read of the entire series in a row so that should keep me busy for a while. After that, I'm not sure what I'll do. Wait for the encyclopedia, I suppose.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I'm feeling the DH depression. It actually started when I first held the book in my hands on the drive home from the midnight party at B&N. It was the beginning of the end, and I really dreaded reading the book.

The magic does seem to be fading...it's such a bummer, to say the least. Most of the magic in my life came from Harry Potter. There isn't much magic in this world anymore, and now that HP is over with I feel like I've lost a part of my childhood.

Sure, there are lots of fantasy books out there, but it's just not the same.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I have read DH twice and now i'm reading PS. I was depressed but that did not last for long because there is so much stuff for me to do. The books were really great and I will keep reading them over and over but I have to enjoy life and not stay down about it, there is lots of great stuff still to come.

Ugh. I wonder. I've been getting tons of books from the library lately because I'm on vacation, and boy...I just don't see another Harry Potter happening. Everything I've read thus far has been terrible!

That or after the release of the encyclopedia Jo is planning. Then there will really be nothing HP-related to look forward to...

It's hard to imagine anything like Harry Potter having this much impact on me. It just doesn't seem possible. But you never know...I'm sure hoping something new will come along.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I have yet to read Deathly Hallows a second time. I want to wait so when I do read it again it will be like reading it for the first time. Because even though I do know the major plot developments and twists...the nuances and dialogue are definetley not fresh in my mind. So probably later this year I will start with SS and go through until the end. So...no I am not yet depressed. We still have two films, the encyclopedia, etc. Sure the anticipation has dwindled somewhat, but we still have the complete and utter enjoyment when we open a Harry Potter book.

Me too. I had read separated chapters again, though. Like you, I'm waiting to do a whole series back-to-back rereading.

I excited for HBP, specially for finally seeing Harry/Ginny interactions on-screen and the cave scene. The promise of the Scottish Book is the most uplifting thing of it all. When that book hits our hands ... there's always therapy.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

Hmm I've only read them all twice, and I plan to start reading them all again after I've read a few other books but I think it will be different every time, as you notice different things and you yourself change so your attitudes to the characters do. I don't know though. The first time I read OotP I hated Harry in it, and the second time, I LOVED HIM! I felt so sorry for him and had so much understanding for him.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I few days ago I have finished re-reading the whole series and it's just amazing how much "new" stuff I've discovered - things I didn't notice or pay attention to before. And now I'm getting a bit depressed. I really like reading and I've tried a few other books but none of them entranced me and everything seems just so boring after experiencing the magic of HP. I just wish there were more books like HP - or even better - more HP books.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I have been listening to the audiobooks for a while now -- there is an entirely different experience to be had in hearing the books interpreted by, in my case, Jim Dale. It's kind of like reading them all over again -- there is a fresh perspective and I've made connections that, in my many other readings, I hadn't made. It's something to fill the void that was left when DH came out, also...

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

Doing alright over here, thankfully. Snape's death still pulls at my heart strings but I know I still have the movies to look forward to, and while I realize it's not the same as the book, at least it's something to distract me!!

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

Doing fine here. I guess i had a bit of a 'depression' right after i finished the book but it went away pretty fast. The ending of any book series is almost always rather... Melancholic experience for me but it goes away

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I feel pretty weird at the moment with the Harry Potter series. I haven't read any of the books since August. I do want to go back and read them, but also I'm enjoying having a break from the series. I'm sad that I don't feel as connected with the Harry Potter excitement as I was before. I don't enjoy posting in the Harry Potter areas of CoS as much as I did before, and I preferred the speculating. Oh well, it was great while it lasted and now I'm still trying to savour that feeling.

Re: Post-Hallows Depression

I felt kinda ... alien when I had finished DH. You know, it was something I'd been looking forward to practically since I'd read PS.
Then I was so happy about the ending, I thought it was so great ... I still don't miss it.

I'm still in shock xD Also the fact that I hadn't moved for 6 ½ hours didn't help ...

Also this was the only book I ever cried over, so ... Still shocked.
