Any Places in Which People Got Misty Eyed?

There were definitely some places where I felt close to getting choked up- certain deaths that were unexpected (George, Lupin, Tonks) but for the majority of the book, nothing. That is until I read the epilogue: I felt really satisfied as I was reading, happy that everything turned out alright for the main characters, but when I read that Harry named (middle name/part of the first name I don't know) after Snape, I just couldn't hold back. I thought that was really beautiful how a good man forced to endure disrespect and hatred by others who didn't really know what he was about, was really honored. Any particular moments for you guys?

The Epilogue, definitely. It was just like..surreal that the series would be ending, and after reading the Epilogue it just hit me.

I didn't cry, but I got really depressed when Percy came back to the Weasleys right before the battle started. I don't know why, but it was then when I realized that the series was about to end, and that things had finally come full-circle.

Ditto! That broke my heart! Also when everyone thought Harry was dead, their screams and shouts of his name, then Neville being brave and loyal to Harry in killing Nagini..i thought i would die crying......

I'm not sure why...maybe I was reading it too fast...but nothing in this book made me cry. When I read in book 6 about Dumbledore dying, I cried my eyes out. The closest I came to being sad in this book was when Dobby died.

My heart was broken at Godric's Hollow, when Harry saw the graves of James and Lily... and I cried most of the Prince's Tale, especially when Snape was crying in Sirius bedroom, agh, and when it looked like Harry had to die. I didn't think that Harry dying would affect me so, but when it looked like it...

God, i always knew i was a wuss, but i started crying from the time Percy came back till i handed over the book to my cousin so she could read it next. I guess I never realised how attached i was to the characters. but then, they've been a part of my life for 8 years. *sigh* I guess we move on with our lives now?

I got really worked up with Snape died. It was extreeemely emotional for me. As a matter of fact, i'm still not over it.

I got a little teary eyed when Dobby died, especially when the grave read "Here lies Dobby, a Free Elf"

I cried at so many things that I had to make a list. There are twelve moments on it. Maybe it was just the emotion of the end of the series, but other than Dumbledore's death at the end of HBP, I'd never cried reading HP before (got a little teary at the end of GoF, but that's it). Maybe it was because so many things were unexpected that I hadn't built up those emotional walls. Anyway, here's my list:

1. Dudley's "reconciliation" with Harry at the beginning, and Harry's subsequent reminiscences of his life at Privet Drive. There was something very final about that whole sequence.

2. I had just enough time to digest Hedwig's death in the midst of the madness of that scene to get misty.

3. Hermione describing how she altered her parents' memories. The idea that she might die with her parents would never knowing or caring is such a heartbreaking concept.

4. Harry visiting the graves of his parents.

5. When Ron came back.

6. When Harry went to Luna's room. It bears mentioning that a big part of this was that my initial assumption when Harry recognized that the room didn't look like it had been lived in for a long time was that Luna had actually died and her father was deluding himself into believing it hadn't happened. Clearly this wasn't the case, so the tears dried up pretty quickly once I found out what was actually going on.

7. Dobby's death and Harry digging his grave.

8. When Percy came to join the fight.

9. Fred's death.

10. Remus and Tonks's deaths.

11. Harry's walk into the forest (I don't think I've ever sobbed so hard at a book).

12. Harry walking into the headmaster's office to the cheers of the paintings.

Dobby's death and burial. I always thought if Harry lived that Dobby would be his free House Elf. At least Kreacher came around.

I got sort of choked up when Harry saw Luna's room with her "friends" mural. Also after Ron left and when Hermione collapsed crying. Oh and the entire chapter in Godric's Hollow was heart wrenching.

Harry's walk into the forest with his parents, Sirius and Lupin was the biggest one for me--that whole chapter was a wrench to read. Also when Hedwig died and then when Harry had to explode the sidecar, the toast in honor of Mad-Eye, Dobby's funeral, and the sight of Lupin and Tonks' bodies after they died.

I don't think I cried at any of the deaths (probably just because I was so tired), but I couldn't hold back when Harry saw Lily, James, Sirius, and Remus. For some reason the fact that Sirius looked young like he had in his Marauding days made me extremely sad.

Misty eyed? I started blubbing a few chapters in, and never stopped ...

As far as deaths go, Dobby and Fred were the worst for me. I was too shocked by Lupin and Tonks to cry, I think. I got more teary eyed for Percy, Ron and George's reaction to Fred being dead.

Still, the scene that got me the most was actually Ron's return to Harry, and his entire experience with destroying the Locket. The moment the two boys hugged, I fell apart. It was such a beautiful scene.

When Harry uses the resurrection stone and his parents, Sirius, and Lupin showed up. That got me bad.

The entire chapter 'The Prince's Tale.' Especially when Snape told Nigellus not to call Hermione a Mudblood...that was what really did it for me.

I also may have snuffled a bit during the kissing, but that's only because I'm a hopeless romantic.
