HBP video game
What will be in it? There does not seem to be nearly as much action in this book compared to any other.
I am guessing there will be a big emphasis on Harry's trying to get the memory from Slughorn. Also, obviously the end where Harry and Dumbledore go to the cave and when they come back to Hogwarts. I hope they show all of the trips into the pensieve, but how can they make gameplay out of that? The way the entire game focused on Dumbledore's Army in the fifth, will they be able to do that in the sixth? Or will they have to go back to the old, more structured style where you play one level at a time? |

Re: HBP Videogame
I'm sure the part where Dumbledore gets killed, and then Harry spends all that time chasing Snape down and trying to kill him will be in there. Especially as he tries to curse a couple of Death Eaters on the way down, doesn't he?

Re: HBP Videogame
That would be cool if they let us do that, making it more sandbox style would be good also.

Re: HBP Videogame
The HBP game isn't going to be really exciting unless they add a bunch oof little things that weren't in the book.....

Re: HBP Videogame
Yeah true, cos most of the book was just Harry learning about Voldemorts life through memories. It could have quidditch in it, and I guess some lessons, maybe potion making?

Re: HBP Videogame
well they normally make the games like the films, and they normally add parts that werent in the books to them, so they might have those in it?

Re: HBP Videogame
Maybe there will be a Hot Coffee mod for this one?
![]() Interactive snogging! Seriously though, there really isn't too much in the books in terms of gameplay material. Maybe following around Malfoy before he gets the elves to do it. I'm sure the final battle will be the meat of the game |

Re: HBP Videogame
I have a feeling there will be some tasks related to the HBP's book. Learning new spells from it, possibly retrieving things and following instructions.
The cave and DD's death will basically cover the last 25% IMO. Quidditch will most likely be put back in.

I like how they made a big deal when you cast a Levitation charm in PS but it's like nothing in OoTP. |

Re: HBP Videogame
I think it'll take a lot of brainstorming to figure out how they'll adapt Half-Blood Prince into a game. My suggestions would be to put in Quidditch matches where you're able to play as Ginny (chaser), Ron (keeper) and of course, Harry (seeker). There would probably be a lot of potion ingredient hunts for Slughorn. They could bring back Buckbeak (as Witherwings, of course) so that you could fly around the Hogwarts grounds by broom, hippogriff, or even by thestral. Then there would be the retrieval of the locket in the lake, where Harry would have to fight off Inferi. Finally, after the death of Dumbledore, you would spend a long portion of the game fighting Death Eaters at Hogwarts, with Snape as a boss battle outside Hagrid's Hut.

Re: HBP Videogame
HBP will be a very slow game. But OotP, technically, is very light on action as well.
I think it depends on how the movie adaptation works. The games are generally based off of that. I hope they finally let us strafe and aim, though. I've been dying for shooter controls; it would make combat so much more enjoyable (combat was OotP's biggest flaw, made the DoM sequence drag on forever). |

) a more sandbox style, do they have qudditch though? Anywho my XB360 is broken and I might just sell it + money I have now for a Wii so I can play OotP with the Wiimote and the new Super Smash Bros. Getting back on track now I think the HBP game should be an all out sandbox similar to the game Bully where you can go to classes build and up skills, play and practice quidditch, have cinematic plot scenes, then eventually go fight Voldemort when you sort of run out of time then you have to go fight him. Not to mention an also a sort of seperate qudditch game with all UK pro teams, 4 Hogwarts teams and various all star teams. All right I think that's everything .Last edited by Kevin_33; August 6th, 2007 at 4:22 am. |

Re: HBP Videogame
I really dislike how they are treating the games as merchandise milking money out of HP fans, they should put some real developers behind the game and make something worthwhile! I vote for bioware hehe, after what they did with KOTOR they could do wonders with an HP game I am sure of that.

Re: HBP Videogame
They don't work as computer games. There isn't enough action to keep you entertained and the games are often far too easy and take hardly any time to finish.
I played OOTP on wii and initially I really liked the use of the wand feature, but after a while it lost it's shine quickly. All that was left after that was another boring game. |

Re: HBP Videogame
All that they need to do is to make the game more open. Give people more quests, more things to do, more places to explore. Don't limit the game based upon the movie or the book, do some things differently to add to the game. Make Quidditch more important, maybe add a dueling club, things like that. Give quests to learn new spells, be able to brew some potions to give your characters a little boost, etc.

Re: HBP Videogame
Do remember movie games are sort of just merchandise. Nothing more than a quick buck or two, for the most part. In 2006 the movie Cars' game was the number 2 best selling game. And guess what, it was mediocore at best. Just think when was the last time you played a good in quality movie game (except Star Wars ones because it's LucasArts' only games) hmmm let me guess, you haven't. Exibit A: Stan McNormalperson (Yes that's a VGCats reference) sees the OotP movie, he likes it a lot and buys game. It's $10-20 cheaper so hey why not! Sometimes a slight discount and extremly sucessful movie can create a top seller regardless if the game is an good or not. That's kind of the theory behind most movie games. The End.
Edit: Okay well some of The Tomb Raider games were good. Last edited by Kevin_33; August 6th, 2007 at 4:54 am. |
