A Harry Potter encyclopedia

I'd like the encyclopaedia, but what I'd like most is an answer to what happened between P.601~602...where it says.."19 years later"!

I was incredibly disappointed by the ending, like Jo had become bored with it and was just like 'Oh well' so something like an encyclopaedia would be amazing. I would definately be one of the first to read it.
It would be good for us dedicated readers too, who were disappointed and would like to hear more about the stories we have in our hands now. As for hearing more about their lives, I don't think I do want to. The story has to end somewhere, I guess this is just the line JKR put down.

Hi, Sorry I'm wasn't quite sure where to post this...

Does anybody have any idea when the Harry Potter Encyclopedia is being released or any update on it whatsoever? I've been looking on the internet and found something from 3 years ago that said it will be released within the next five years? Does anybody have any more information about the book itself and when it could be released etc?

It's something we are hoping Jo would write. Last we heard, she was seen writing on her laptop in a cafe. but, no one was able to see what she was writing.

All we really know is that it will be released eventually and that JKR keeps reffering to it as "The Scottish Book" as a joke. I hope thats wat its actually called when its released.

I'm very much afraid that her mentioning this encyclopedia is not to be taken as a promise. Although she must have been aware of that that's exactly what the general fandom would do. Time will tell ...

Well, she said it could take 10 years before we see anything new Potter-related so until she officially say that shes working on it to get it released i won't get my hopes up.

Hope we get a hint soon, just to know if we can expect it in one year or five. After DH2 we really need something to look forward to

If the books contain all her notes from writing the books i think its going to be great. Just think about all the information we'll get

She has said "unofficially" that she's working on it. It's been a couple of years since I heard it, though. I don't think anything official will come out until it is published, if it gets published.

I guess this is one of those things where we just have to keep hoping it'll come out soon. Maybe in the meantime Jo will write something non Harry Potter related to entertain us?

It was 10 yrs from the release of DH in 2007 so only 6 yrs now, but I concur with your relic comment! erm meaning I'd be a relic too.

Just a mention on her website, that she's working on it. It can be a while naturally before she's done.

Thanks, Hes. It will probably take a while, but an encyclopedia from Rowling herself is the book I've been wanting, so the news makes me happy.

I would love an encyclopedia to be released and would defiently have mine on pre-order. However I know she has another book to come out soon, one that is aimed at adults, so I am not holding my breath at this moment.

Well since her new book is due out soon, she naturally is finished writing it. It seems like now her project is the Encyclopedia. It would still take a while to gather all the information she hes and format it into a book, but I don't think it'll be an extremely long wait.

Hmmm...I feel like A History of Magic and an Encyclopedia would do us all well. With these two books we'll have a complete history (meetings of Wizengamot, and what not), and a background of all the characters that we've grown to love!!
