Re: Live Chat with JKR

I asked a question but it wasn't answered. She will hopefully answer some on her website though.

Some people have (including myself), are speculating that perhaps Ron joined George at the shop immediately after Hogwart, but that, after a while, he joined Harry in the ministry as an Auror.

I really hope that's the case.

I still can't get over the last answer ... after looking at the lyrics for "My Way", it truly does fit for Dumbledore!

If you think about it, this probably saved some lives. Bella was obsessed with killing Tonks to the exclusion of everything else. Tonks probably took her on a pretty good wild goose chase before Bella finally won out.

Then Mrs. Weasley took her out.

Congratulations to those who got questions answered--you must feel very proud and lucky. Okay, is Ron an auror or a partner in the joke shop or both? I am now confused by that. Those who said he probably did the joke shop and then became an auror are probably right. But did the trio go back to school? I saw the question, but no the answer.

I think that's probably what she meant. The question was, after all, just as much about if the trio went on to complete their 7th year or not as it was about what they ended up doing with their lives. Considering that she explained that "Harry did so [go back to Hogwarts]", immediately followed by the info on Ron, I get the impression that she's implying that he decided to help George at his shop rather than go back to Hogwarts, not necessarily that he stayed there and made it his career.

He did both. He first went to help George with the Joke shop and then joined Harry in the Auror department.

I didn't see that answered either. I guess I just assumed that their "in the field" experiance of their 7th year allowed them not to have to sit through another year. It may have been possible that they still had to take their N.E.W.T.s though...

Is Ron an Auror or is he working with George at the shop?

This morning I tuned into live chat. A question was asked of JK, about what Harry and Ron ended up doing after all was said and done with the hogwarts battle. Of course I thought I knew the answer. They both become Aurors, like JK said in the interview with Meridieth Viera. But to my surprise this morning Jk, said Harry became an Auror and revolutionized the department. But instead of sating Ron became one too, and that they worked side by side. She said the ron went to the shop and Helped George run the shop. That it was a huge money maker, and they became very sucessfull...

So which is it an Auror or running the shop with George?

Re: Live Chat with JKR

When this was announced, I submitted a whole ton of questions, the least of which I would have prefered to the best of the ones that were actually asked.

A sample of the questions I asked:

How rare is the skill of occlumency? It's obviously an important skill for duelling purposes, as shown by Snape at the end of HBP, so you'd think aurors would know it, yet only Dumbledore and Snape seem to know it out of the whole Order.

What happens if the three hallows unite? What exactly does being master of death entail? (She kinda answered this one).

What is there to magic, other than incantations and wand movements, that makes magic complex and hard to do?

What were James and Lily's professions?

Are some people born more powerful than others, or is power completely dependant on what you make of yourself?

To settle a dispute among friends: who was the greatest wizard: James Potter, Sirius Black, or Severus Snape?

Would Dumbledore have been corrupted by power, as he suspected he would, had he taken the post of Minister?

J.K. Rowling: Harry did so (just because Voldemort was gone, it didn’t mean that there would not be other Dark witches and wizards in the coming years).
So she does say (though in a kind of vague way) that Harry did complete his 7th year.

Re: Live Chat with JKR

I was only really disappointed about her answer regarding whose deaths Voldemort made the Horcruxes with. I can understand her answer but I thought he would have been more selective, as with the Horcruxes themselves. Some of the questions had already been answered, which was frustrating. I'm glad Jo is going to answer more on her website hopefully.

i really enjoyed the interview but i agree when people asked questions that had already been answered in previous interviews it annoyed me. i spent a lot of time catching up on interviews that she had done after the book so i knew what she hadn't said or answered i justr wished people had done the same.

The webchat answered every question I had about DH. Perfect closure now.

Now I won't have to buy the encyclopedia just to get answers to these questions...but I probably will anyway.

Jo answered two questions about Rons future with different time horizonts. One question was today in the chat, what he did direct after school. She answered that he helped his brother. The other question from an interview was, what Ron did at the time the epilog happened. That ist 19 years later. And than he is an Auror with Harry. I couldn`t see what is wrong with those answers.

Re: Live Chat with JKR

I must have read fast and/or misunderstood the first time I read the transcript. Thanks to everyone who clarified this.
