Re: Commercials that you hate... (non-UK)

I hate that stupid Glade commercial where two women are sitting on the couch and one pulls out a pointer and explains how the air freshener works by pointing at a plastic molecule model on the coffee table. The second lady, with a silly, vacant look on her face says, "I think it's pretty."

Yes, I also find those Burger King commercials annoying and creepy. I detest all the medication commercials as well, particularly the ones pushing medications for conditions that are not normally talked about in everyday conversation. Those types of things were taboo for television when I was growing up - how times have changed!

Same here, about the medication commercials, especially the ones that talk about the side effects in a supposed pleasant manner . I can't stand them!

ANYTHING - anything - that's not Harry Potter related!
No really, I really hate commercials, I try to skip over them.

It has GOT to be the HEAD-ON: APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD commercials. By their own admission, it is one of the most annoying things on television.

The ones that annoys me the most lately is the Free Credit Report.com songs. Especially the one where the guy's singing about his wife's horrible credit and implying he wouldn't have married if he knew her credit was bad.

In that new christmas car ad where they say "duh!" a trillion times is getting really annoying. There's this one guy who sings "DUH!" with such anger it looks like he's having a seizure. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I hate medication commercials too. We had to watch this video in my Health Occ. class and this lady in it was saying how putting STD medication commercials on can have a really negative impact on kids. You know, those commercials with the gorgeous, model-types smiling while they say, "I have genital herpes" and stuff like that. It's not only something you really don't want to hear about, but it doesn't send a good message to kids at all.

I really like the commercials for Regence, tho. It's like...a medical company or something? I like the ones where people are talking to each other as they pass each other in the store or on the bus, giving each other doctor/medicine advice and support. Their slogan is pretty nice too, "Regence. We are all connected, and thousand strong."

I know, I don't like those STD medication commercials. To me, it's like "Too much infomation ..." and "I definitely didn't need to hear that..." Also there are those commercials out there for certain kinds of medications for men, that just make me want to vomit -- and just make me want to almost stop watching tv altogether .

Oh, and what about those stupid "text message" commercials that come on late at night. You know the ones where you can text to obtain things like a date, a love match compatibility answer, a horoscope. Why would anyone waste their time and energy doing this?

I don't really like those either. Like you said, "why would anyone waste their time and energy doing that?" They're nothing more than pointless advertisements that need to go away for good .

I really can't stand those Special K commercials with the two women and the guy in the office ('Let's have a moment for feeling good.... and, we're back"), they're incredibly annoying.

Oh yeah, those are so bad.

There's a new one for HMV that is just the logo bouncing back and forth in a Pong game, complete with beeps. Argh!

I also hate the medication commercials, I don't think such extensive advertising should be allowed. I know some doctors will prescribe anything their patients ask for, just to avoid arguing, and people wind up with serious side effects.
Oddly enough, these commercials are on in Canada, where advertisers are not allowed to show someone consuming alcohol in any way. Weird...

The old Geico commercials with the gecko were good... the new ones are just terrible!!!

Head On commercials

This new Subway commercial... two girls are sitting on a bench, one is eating a sandwich.

Girl without sandwich: I hate you!
Girl with sandwich: Wow. Really!

On the other hand, I think the Head On commercials, at least the old ones where they just kept repeating "Head On! Apply directly to the forehead!" are hilarious. The new ones where they try to make fun of themselves, though = not so good.

I think I may have seen one of those commercials. Does it have a British/Australian speaker on it?

LOL! Have you seen the rap version? It's so funny!

Those Bing commercials creep me out. It just seems like everyone in the world has gone mad except that one person, YOU! & you're all alone. So disturbing.

There was a really stupid and sexist Pepsi commercial on the tv some time ago, in Argentina. Four male friends were at this really cool bar and they bet 100 pesos on getting the prettiest girl, or something like that. They are all drinking pepsi of course. A while later one of the comes back with a pretty girl, then the other comes back with two pretty girls, then another ones come back with 4 pretty girls who are very gifted in the chest are, and then the short friend comes back with 5 tall girls. Something like that. I hated that commercial so much!! It was so lame. I would have stopped drinking pepsi if I didn't like it so much.

Woah that sounds like a really bad commercial. And men complain when there's a commercial like that with shirtless guys. There was one like that back in the 90's -- for Diet Coke. And guys complained enough that it got pulled.

Talk about double standards there. And it ain't right . If they get their commercials (that we don't like) -- then we should get ours. It's only fair.
