Probably not. Rings fans have been clamoring for this, but the time and money that it would take to do the post-production of these scenes just isn't worth Peter Jackson's time & effort. The same will be true here: Cuarón and Newell, we know, are too busy to help add additional scenes to Prisoner & Goblet, and Yates & Heyman might very well find themselves occupied in many post-Potter projects. (Columbus is the only one with time on his hands to kill, it seems: but he has not been in much demand at all since the first two Harry Potter films, so that isn't surprising!)

The Ultimate Editions have not sold particularly well. This is not a case such as with Lord of the Rings, where the Extended editions sold almost as well as the regular editions (and as well as the HP films!). If they are not going to make a decent profit off of the endeavor, then WB is not going to do anything more than it has done.


I've noticed that this thread has confounded two different things: cut parts from existing scenes, and cut scenes. Rings had the same thing: the "extended" edition included both extended scenes (more lines for the most part) and completely added scenes. There is a better chance of getting extended scenes, because often the cut material was cut at the last minute. It was fully produced and often even scored, but trimmed to reduce the length of the films. Those are easy to restore.

Whole scenes often are more difficult. Really, they can be restored only if they were cut fairly late. Even for Lord of the Rings, Howard Shore had to redo the score to include the extended scenes. There were a lot of scenes that we knew existed (e.g., Éowyn fighting Uruks in the Glitter Caves) because they were in the trailers that still never made it into the extended film. And we know that there were still other scenes that got dropped fairly early in the production process: PJ et al. have pretty much declared those dead, as they would require a lot of

Actually in the Return of the King commentary PJ says that they saved certain scenes for a future release. One scene being a scene in elronds library which he wanted to put in an ultimate version for the fans. He has said there are still many scenes that may get added to a future release. PJ has a Passion for LOTR like a father does his child so its hard telling what he will do but it is for sure he will do something down the road.

In the last revised draft of the screenplay for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, Harry has a brief moment with Aunt Petunia in which she talks about how she doesn't want to abandon the house that she's lived in for most of her life. Harry reminds her of the danger associated with residing there now, and she rather angrily makes a case that she's not ignorant. Before leaving, she reminds Harry that she also lost a sister all those years ago, and when Harry expresses surprise at this generous remark, seemingly thinking that Petunia might have some magic of her own (or at least be a Squib), she says, "What a cruel thing to say."

It's a rather lovely moment, and David Yates confirmed that they filmed it. I really hope it's on the DVD.

Does anyone know if there might be anything with Lily's letter in Sirius' room? That part of the movie seemed really disjointed, it's like Harry was in the room and suddenly without any explanation they were looking at RAB. I was really thinking that part would have been in, do we have anything to know whether it was filmed and got cut and if it will be on the DVD?

I just remembered we also had pictures of Lily with Harry.

The script excerpt was from the possession scene when Harry remembers what his mother said in SWM. We don't have the script of the actual scene though.

The actor that plays Crabbe or Goyle mentioned it - and it is also in the script.

I just read through the original script on here. Makes me wish I was a fly on the wall when they were deciding what to cut! Percy at the Wizengamot would have been nice a nice touch . Sirius mentioning in the fireplace that James would have never laid down for someone like Umbridge I thought fit well and definitely worked with the later bit in the Ministry where he calls Harry James. Those extended Ministry scenes also would have been great to see, especially the Ron/Hermione bit. I have to say I have trouble picturing the extended Harry/Voldemort/DD confrontation. I'm sure the way they filmed it was awesome, but I just have trouble visualizing it.

There is a deleted scene from half blood prince that is not mentioned on here that I remember was briefly mention in the test screening. After Harry has committed Sectumsempra on Malfoy, he runs off when Snape arrives and bumps in McGonnagall as he leaves.

Secondly, The Ultimate editions are ultimate in name only. I remember an article before christmas which stated that they were preparing to do a collection of all the films togethor that beats anything seen before. Now, the ultimate editions have not been released in the U.K, the birth place of Potter, secondly, most of the special features are the same as on previous DvDs, which tells me these edition were only ever a filler.

Therefore, I believe all these deleted scenes that have been held back for a future release, it is the only logic behind the small proportion of deleted scenes that have been released since the chamber of secrets.
