Re: Spanish
Maybe you were thinking of "estudioso"? That can be masculine or feminine, correct?

I'm doing a project for Spanish, and I was wondering if this sentence makes sense.
Mi abuelo tenía tres hijos, pero un hijo morió.

Re: Spanish
In addition to what GinnyisGenius said, I would actually say "pero uno se murió." To make it reflexive implies that the child had no fault in the dying.

Re: Spanish
¡Hola!

Espero que yo contesta tu pregunta! ![]() It depends in the country where the people are talking. In many Spanish-speaking countries, they use the form "Uds." (Ustedes) to refer to more than one person. Traditionally in Spain Uds. is the formal form, and vosotoros is what one uses with people that one know or that are of the same age. In other countries (especially in Latin America) they use Uds. for all groups that have more than one person. Probably the person that translated this passage was from Latin America. I hope I answered your question!

"Estudioso" is a participle, a verb form that works like an adjective. Therefore, it has got gender, and there's a form for the masculine (estudioso) and another for the feminine (estudiosa).

Re: Spanish
Ok, I haven't posted here in forever...and my Spanish has not at all improved since then.
But my dad learned Spanish when he was in 2nd grade (years and years and years ago!) and he is convinced that he still know it, but I'm not sure he does sometimes. He sometimes jokingly calls me something along the lines of Pendeja (sorry if it's spelled wrong, I tried to sound it out.), which he says means stupid girl. It sounds like "pen-day-ha" when he says it. I always thought the word for stupid was estupido or something Is he right?

I know what words you mean. (unless you're referring to a not-so-common A and B words?)
I'll have to tell my dad he's been insulting me all this time! LOL
