well, thats quite a shame, if there is one fantasy universe that's a perfect fit for a Monopoly game it woud be Harry Potter. as Wendy Potter has mentioned, you hardly need to make stuff up anymore to fit the game since most are already laid out-- the money is Wizard money (although i know it would be best to stick with the paper money instead of turning them into coins), you can re-design the money tray to have the Gringotts Bank feel, Jail would be Azkaban, the 4 Common Rooms can replace the 4 Train lines, instead of the 2 utilities you can have the two most popular pubs (The Leaky Cauldron and The Three Broomsticks) and so on.

wow this is very nice, very nice indeed.

i was looking around the WB shop and i saw the Gryfindor sword, very tempting , but its not to scale is it?

here's another idea: once the Deathly Hallows comes out, you can feature the Hogwarts Founders 3 Horcruxes-- the Slytherin Locket, the Ravenclaw Diadem and the Hufflepuff Teacup. if you include with it a full scale Gryffindor sword that would be one highly collectible (and enviable) gift set.

I saw the Noble Collection Gryffindor Sword when I was in Hamleys toy shop in London, it looked full size to me, and too big for me to bring home in my suitcase.

I would like to have action figures of some of the more minor characters like Luna and Ginny but I believe they are coming out.

But yeah the locket replica is a good idea and the stone basin, and Advanced Potion Making.

Maybe DA coins as well??

Re: Warner Bros: Suggestions for New Merchandise

Well, the book cover font is available just about anywhere (Annoyingly tough to read at normal font size) for MS Word so you could probably iron on.

If anything I'd like a replica of Hogwarts castle and grounds, though that'd require Rowling to give a complete blue print and it'd require to be built, not the 3D puzzle or Lego (though the former would be nice) but kinda like model ship.

That is quite nice but I meant one you can build yourself. Plus where did they get their inspiration from for that?

Hey everyone

I just found out from Noble that they will be making the Slytherin Locket and it should be out before the next movie just in time for the holidays!

Wow! That will be really cool! I was just wondering what they would be doing for the HBP merchandise. I wonder if it will really open. Probably not, though, because the real one doesn't.

I wold like it to be like runescape, a map and everything and we can travel to Diagon Alley and everywhere else exploring the places more closely than in the movies and books.
no, not at all like Runescape. More like World of Warcraft. Not like a game where you go on the Internet to play but one where you buy the game software, download it on your CPU, and play it from there. If it was like Runescape, it would be kinda slow and the quality wouldn't be as good as it were an actual computer game like WoW.

How about stuffed animal Nargles and Blibbering Humdingers? But you can't show pictures of them online, because the only reason people want to buy them is to figure out what the heck a Nargle is.
I would buy it.

Re: Warner Bros: Suggestions for New Merchandise

i'd love for there to be much more general items for the next movie - mugs, pillows, posters, figures etc - the merchandise isnt even a quarter of what it used to be for the previous films. you used to go into a toystore near the release date and thered be giant displays. now i have my own money, and dont have to rely on christmas presents, id love that - spend a fortune, but there never is much

also, a book featuring art designs/concept art and just loads of in depth interviews about MAKING and ADAPTING the film would be good. and maybe they could go back and produce them for all films - with unseen plans/ideas.
that'd sell fantastically i think.

also i'd like to see more geeky t-shirts for harry potter i love the chudley cannons one and the fizzing whizbees one is cool (im going to by them next week)

ooh and i'd love to see more lego for the next film, but as the fans have grown up, you could do large sets - ie lifesize harry potter or a very large detailed building-like Hogwarts.

hope to see some feedback on these, these are what i can think of for now, but i imagine ill be back on this thread again

Re: Warner Bros: Suggestions for New Merchandise

I just found this thread! really awesome suggestions! I don't buy a lot of merchandise, mainly because as a lot of people have mentioned a lot of the stuff just has huge hogwarts crests and such.

I'd totally buy a modern looking t-shirt, especially if it had a cool quote that, again like others have said, is more understated--other fans would totally get it without having Dan Radcliffe's face plastered across your chest. The mugglecast t-shirt they did awhile ago was great (*has it*).

Other people have mentioned merchandise having to do with the prophecy or the marauder's map. How about a mug that when you put something hot in it it reveals the prophecy or the map! I love mugs and I'd completely get one of those!

I suppose it should also be taken into account that I'm in my mid-twenties so that kind of stuff won't appeal to me anyway.

The kind of merchandise I would buy would look like this:
  • A bumper sticker that says, "My other ride is a Firebolt."
  • Sweaters, jackets, and ties like the ones worn in the movies. I'd prefer house colors and a small emblem over an enormous emblem that makes me look like a billboard.

I guess what I'm asking for is a line for older fans of the series. Stuff we can take to our professional lives with out looking out of place.
exactly my thoughts! I'd buy stickers (especially those white line bumper sticker style ones) with the DH symbol or witty quotes. Troll livejournal and deviantart and you find tons of creative HP related stuff. Some of the best "merchandise" I've seen has been made by fans actually! Like the Slytherin shirt about Power corrupts and knowledge is power so study hard and be evil *fave*

- I wouldn't go out with you if it was a choice between you and the giant squid. [Lily]
- Mars is bright tonight. [Ronan the centaur]
yup yup! and "I collect plugs" (which I think already exists) and anything with "Siriusly..." anything on it

And whoever said Weasley clock and Pygmy Puff stuffed animal! I second that!

Also, I completely doubt this could happen but I would 100% buy a book of comics (or even merchandise) based on the drawings of makani and some of the other Amazing! fanartists out there. They are HILARIOUS and the epitome of the best of fandom to me. I'm sure there are probably copyright issues but seriously--fantastic and saleable!

I believe these are discontinued now. However, I checked eBay and Amazon.com andthere are some older Harry Potter backpacks (some with Harry on it).

I would buy it.
The problem with this is that they would be created based on one artist's take on them, which loses the entire mystery behind the creatures. JKR left out any details on their appearance because these were creatures that not even Luna had seen, so they were something that the reader (and characters) just think up their own appearances for.

There is this mug - it does not display the map, but it does switch from "I Solemnly swear that I am up to no good" to "Mischief managed" when filled with something hot.

WB does have a Weasley clock.

I could definitely see Pygmy Puffs being made, at the very least as a plush. But they could also make them similar to the Furbys (popular in the late 1990s - I remember getting one for my granddaughter), in that they react and (possibly) bounce around. At the very least, they can make that small crooning sound.

Re: Warner Bros: Suggestions for New Merchandise

I was going to suggest that they make the prop cards and costume cards more readily available -- more of them, more types, perhaps. It's ridiculous that the only people who seem to have them are comics dealers and folks on ebay.

The adult fans would buy things that are not over-priced dust-collectors, although things like that have a place during the holidays, but some regular household objects that you can actually use that are HP-themed, and not made solely for children. I love the coffee mugs, but there must be other things like that besides just mugs. The bookmarks are great -- keep carrying those, and the booklights as well.
