Re: Fashion Advice

I have a fair few for holiday style, and colored toesy ones, but I don't wear them too often, the seem to go in and out of style.

it's a little tedious when you first put it into order, but after that it's easy when you just are putting away clean clothes. it is so much easier finding things when you know what you're looking for, or when you want to match a shirt to some bottoms you picked out, or when you want to wear a certain color, all you have to do is look at one section of your clothes instead of thumbing your way through every hanger. plus i think it looks neater.

i love tube socks but that's pretty much it. and i don't wear them too often, pretty much only when my friends and i are watching football and i'm wearing the colors of the team i want to win, or when we play football at a bbq, or some other sporty kind of thing. or around my apartment at night if it's a little cool and i don't wanna put on pants.

Re: Fashion Advice

I know how to do cute outfits and stuff but I'm to lazy to so it. I used to keep my clothes color-coded and neat and I used to pick out my clothes the night before, but then I got to sixth grade when I had to get up at 6:15 and was too tired to do stuff the night before. Thankfully I now I am in seventh grade and my school changed the start time to later so waking up and 6:15 is impossible. I still am unorganized. I have basket that I throw all the clean stuff in and drag it out into the hall in the morning and chose. then I generally have to iron it out.

I don't really wear heels because
#1 I think heels with low heels like 1 or 2 inches are usually ugly--not always, but I've found very few really cute heels with low heels
#2 I'm 5'8" so if I wear 4 inch heels I'm 6 feet tall and I feel like I'm towering over the world

but I am kinda excited that flats are more in style now than they have been in awhile, and there are a lot of cute options. Some of them do look a little teenagery, but still.

I have my closet organized by color, but rarely is everything actually in the closet so...I don't know how well it really works. I totally live in the wrong weather for my fashion sense though. I loved London because people wear hats and scarves and beautiful coats and tights and such but you'd be sweating and looked at strangely if you wore that kinda stuff in LA. I know people who own 1 pair of dress shoes if they have to go to a wedding or something and 15 pairs of flip-flops (and that's it)! I'm not a big fan personally

I used to feel that way but now I love being tall!

Wanna swap? I'm only about 40 miles outside of central London...

I went to LA for my 21st birthday, partied for two weeks straight (and got to see the Motley Crue reunion), it was great!

I know I should, I just don't like sticking out. Which you prolly don't get if you've got green hair but there it is!

Sure! I'd love to live outside London. I'm not really a party girl type, but I loved all the museums and theatres and...old stuff in England!

Wasn't there a movie about that? An English and American girl swapping lives saw the preview and not the film

I wonder what my two-year-old would make of it.

Re: Fashion Advice

oooh, a thread after my own heart...what's people's general take on knee socks? I have two ribbed pairs in brown and blue which seem to look ok with ballet flats, and similarly with open-toed heels (try it, really!)- but is there anything else I should try wearing them with? Trainers don't work, for some reason.

Well, I think my general take on knee socks is "ZOMG, DON'T!" LOL, but then it can be such a stunning look if pulled off with confidence. You could wear clogs easily. Actually, shoes are probably less important with knee socks than making sure you have plenty of leg exposed above the knee.

Re: Fashion Advice

Frankly, I prefer crazy patterned tights to knee socks, something along the lines of things Lovefoxx wears- but they do seem to work as long as I keep the skirts some way above the knee. Thanks for the advice.
*sigh* no doughnuts for breakfast, that means...

I feel exactly the same way about heels. I just don't think low heels are anywhere near as cute and stylish as the really tall ones, which I automatically gravitate to. Unfortunately I can never bring myself to go out in my super high heels because I know I'll just be miserable half way through the night and possibly cause myself serious harm with a major fall or something.

I love knee socks, although I think it is really important to pair with the right outfit. I'm surrently hoping to acquire a short black pleated skirt, which I think would be appropriate to wear with tall socks. I got some amazing ones from jcrew last year that I really want to rock. Unfortunately I don't think I really have any proper shoes to wear with knee socks. Right now I think I'd wait for a rainy day and wear them with my wellies or something. I don't have any, but I think that the heeled oxford type shoes that seem to be fashionable this season could be good with them too.

Re: Fashion Advice

I'm really good with the tall heels. I can walk and dance in them no problem, and for the most part, I love wearing them. However, I really have no where to ever wear them to. Plus, while I really don't mind being tall (5'9"), it's a bit awkward when you're already 4 inches taller than everyone, and then add another 3. There'll be times when I'm in flats and my friend wears 3-inch heels, and she's still shorter than me.

Re: Fashion Advice

I love heels but never wear anything over 2 inches. They always hurt my feet. But I have to have some type of heel at all times or else I feel short and my feet actually hurt more.

Re: Fashion Advice

Well, high heels will never be comfortable! I wear them all the time and I still get sore feet, like I said, sometimes I even squeeze into a smaller size because it's hard to find UK women's 9s. The trick is not to think about it... I get out and have a couple of drinks and then as long as I keep moving/dancing I don't notice until it's time to go home (then I can often be found walking to the taxi without shoes). I keep meaning to get into the habit of having a pair of ballet flats or something in my bag for the walk back. My poor feet will pay as I get older but, hell, you only live once!

Rusty, what's the proper way to accessorize a powder blue corduroy leisure suit?

Knee socks go well with cleats.

With lighter fluid and a dancing flame.

Actually, you'd be surprised what a person with a pretty face can get away with sometimes. Something as hideous as that would speak for itself, not much in need of accesories.

To be frank, high heels can be very comfortable if they're good quality/have a heel that's thick enough. It's stiletto heels that really hurt, IMO.

Ack I looooove fashion! Except I'm broke now lol! But I recently still bought a pair of black lacquered pointy toed flats! They look fab! I wonder though, for how long will skinny jeans be in fashion d'you think? I'd hate to buy another set of skinnies only to find out that they're SO 2007.

I do wear mostly pointy heels but I do have some wedges too. I would never call any of them comfortable because you just can't avoid the effects of gravity pulling your feet down the slope of the shoe (resulting in squished toes) and/or the ball of your foot having to take all the weight (which is sore too after 4 hours plus of dancing)!
