Anime Recommendations

I can't really recommend anything. What type of stuff do you like in general, Tenshi? What's enjoyable for one person may not be for another. Like I personally don't like Neon Genesis Evangeleon, while others seem to love it and consider it a classic, but for all I know, due to the type of show it is, you may turn out to enjoy and like it.

I'm not much of an anime fan, really. I don't seek them out, but if I come across one I like, then I watch it. Mostly I watch the Studio Ghibli films, they got me hooked young - TOTORO, baby! Haha, seriously, I also like Wolf's Rain, it's my all time favorite, and I also quite liked Cowboy Bebop.

I believe it is 26 episodes (6-disc series in the U.S. release) and one movie. I recommend it also!

I would recomend Chrno Crusade. It's about a Christian demon-fighting organization in 1920s America trying to stop an apocalypse. Might not sound too original, but it's pretty good.

Well, since you mentioned that, I might as well add on that X/1999 is pretty much the same type of deal...they're sorta tryign to stop an apocalypse.

Chrno Crusade is on my to-watch list. Will do it ASAP.
At the moment I watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It's pretty good.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu....that series is pretty fun to watch. I saw it a few months ago...right before it got licensed to be dubbed. lol

Since you liked that, maybe you'll like something goofy like...Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai. The translation is something like Magical Shopping Arcade, Abenobashi. It's a short series, and spoofs a lot of stuff, since the two main characters keep ending up in alternate realities of their home. Each world represents something (spoof). One of my favorite episodes is the one where they tried to toss in every single solitary movie reference they could think of into the ep. Terminator, Speed, Jaws, Titatnic, Shining, Indiana Jones...so goofy.

Too bad the anime version didn't include the Harry Potter spoof. That's in the manga.

Im not into it either. My boyfriend is completely obsessed but I cant tell what all the fuss is about.
Not sure if anybody has mentioned it but Elfen Lied has a good story and is well drawn. If you like your anime nice and gory and don't have a problem with some nudity, Id suggest you check it out.

I can't remember the one about a book. For some reason it was pulled before I could really see it, but what I did see I liked.

As for films? Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Jin Roh, Castle in the Sky and Steamboy are all I've seen thus far. There was one more that was about some samuai's battling a lady and her albino sidekick I believe is called Appleseed, but check that for me. I would like to see Nausica. I've seen Akira to.

I don't recommend letting kids watch Grave of the Fireflies as it is a distrubing film. I saw it in my Sociology class years ago and I can remember that film to this day. It will stick with you for life.

You assume correctly I think its become a bit of an obsession which couldnt be timed worse since I have exams coming up.

Hmm...may have to check that one out.

Also on the gory note, Devil May Cry. Lots of big monsters, blood and guts. Not quite the same level as Elfen Lied but good just the same.

Chibi Vampire -also goes under the name Karin- she is 16 and instead of biting people to feed, she gets nosebleeds and helps people. 5 novels to date in the USA and 24 episodes are up on the tube "U' know where to find them. Tokyo Mew Mew is fun, as is Kitchen Princess ,for the younger readers.Clover and Vampire game are good- have only read the manga. My 11 year old recommends the Peach Girls series.

Since the one you mentioned is a fantasy anime, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that's what you like. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

If you branch out into other genres, I highly recommend taking at least a gander into Serial Experiments Lain (cyberpunk/science fiction). It really makes a person think. In a good way, not in a what kind of moron watches this stuff? kind of way.

Oh, if you like fantasy, I recommend Shin Shirayukihime Densetsu Pretear (I think it would translate to the new Snow White Princess Legend, Pretear). I personally prefer the manga to its anime, but it'll be okay...if you stay away from the manga.

Oh, for random comedy, I recommend Azumanga Daioh. It's pretty random and funny.

If you like Bounty Hunting stuff, I recommend Cowboy Bebop, Black Cat (well...I've never seen the anime, only read some of the manga, which I like), or Outlaw Star.

If you like Cowboy Bebop, I recommend Lupin III. You can really see how much of an influence Lupin III was on Cowboy Bebop where Jet, Faye, and Spike are concerned.

If you like Jousei type series, then I recommend Gokusen.

Oh, and "jousei" series is a genre which is aimed at late teenage and adult female audiences, mostly, which may deal with the main female character's everyday life (in other words, pretty normal, not particularly sex-oriented like a seinin series, which is aimed at guys and probably has a ton of fanservice).

For anyone who has not seen Rurouni Kenshin, make that your top priority. Best anime ever.

Also, another very underrated one is Trigun.
