Anime Recommendations

I recommend Shugo Chara! and Fruits Basket to anyone.

Both are currently unfinished, but as the story progresses, the episodes/parts of the manga become more and more unpredictable. I recommend these two for anyone who is new to anime/manga or anyone who likes that magical girl/fantasy type.

When you talk about the manga of FB, then it's finished. I read the last volume (23) months ago. When you mean the anime then it doesn't look like it will be continued at all. Shame though.

I started to watch it and it's cute done with the characters, but I don't like that CLAMP put in different characters from their other anime series.

When we talk about CLAMP then I recommend X, when you like good vs evil Armageddon like stories.

Over here I'm waiting for book 19. I refuse to read the online spoilers.

But the anime I think should've continued. There was so much left out.

You are totally right! It is waaaaay creepy and plays in your head hours after you have watched it... If you haven't seen this movie then you are not a real anime fan... Akira is the best anime feature film bar none although a few come close

Yes, I meant Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. I'll be more clear in the future! I don't mind that they have crossover as long as it makes sense in the story and I think this along with xxxHolic matches well.

I also agree that X is another excellent good versus evil anime.

Very true on one front, I never really cared what happened to any of the characters. The manga is a lot more interesting from an artistic point of view.

I'm rather enjoying Vampire Knight at the moment, though it's only eight episodes in and I still think the manga's better. The random vampires are terrifying in anime form, though- there's a little vampire kid in one episode who made me really glad I was watching it with the lights on!
I also enjoyed the Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations OVAs, though maybe 'enjoyed' isn't the right word considering the events they depict..very well-done animation, IMO (and of course, I love me some CLAMP multiverse bishies..).
Also, Cardcaptor Sakura is an utterly adorable series for younger kids, especially girls. Though that's not to say adults can't love it too.

the two anime series that i loved all the way through and had no problems with are Darker than BLACK and Fate Stay/Night.

other ones that i enjoyed but would recommend reading the mangas because they are way better and go into more detail are: Black Cat, Rurouni Kenshin (amazing, you have to see this one!), Bleach, Vampire Knight, and Fullmetal Alchemist.

if you're looking for something funny and cute i recommend Gakuen Alice.

also, anything that has come out of Studio Ghibli and has the name Miyazaki attached.

Probably will recommend something that has already been recommended.

"Gundam Seed" and "Gundam Seed destiny" if you are into Gundam, also try
"Gundam 08th MS team".

"Full Metal Panic" is great, loads more fun

A little different Anime with Mecha "Neon Genesis Evangelion" it's one of a kind!

Some of you might have a laugh with "Golden boy", and FLCL like mentioned earlier, is great! FurI cUra!

"Ghost inn a shell" movies are unbelievable, check it out

I have a few to watch:

Naruto, Bleach, Code Geass, Blood +, Death Note, Gun x Sword, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball (Z and GT too), Ouran High School Host Club, Planet Survival, etc... I can't think of more!

A friend told me to watch Soul Eater but I haven't yet... maybe it's a good anime, I have to check it out

I was shocked to only see one recommendation for Perfect Blue. That is such a good movie. Maybe I'm just not good at guessing in suspenseful movies, but it blindsided me.

Also, I just finished Uchuu No Stellvia, and it is completely awesome. I'm hooked. Just ordered my own copy of it. It's really, really good.
I am also a huge Cowboy BeBop fan. Edward is love.

I haven't actually watched a whole lot of anime, but I'm slowly getting there. It's nice to have finally noticed this thread so I can get some ideas for the next thing to watch.

Never thought I'd enjoy this sort of show, but Kyoto Animation's adaptations of Key's visual novels Air, Kanon, and Clannad are all very well done. They're among the few anime that can actually make you care what happens to the characters.

But Akira wasn't really a character-driven sort of story. It was more driven by, as Inkwolf put it, "explosions, beatings and disembowelings". Still one of the best though.

I've been waiting for someone to post!!!

Now I can post again without feeling too silly.

Based on recs I read here, I went ahead and watched Gunslinger Girl (which I really liked) and Elfen Lied, which I thought was amazing and I'm re-watching. Maybe I'm far too desensitized to violence in animes but nothing really bothered me about what went on in Elfen Lied. I do, however, agree that it isn't suitable for anyone under the "adult" range.

I've also just finished watching Haibane Renmei and would like to recommend it. I found the rec on lanifiel's signature and was pleased to have watched it.

Haibane Renmei looks like a good one. I like the style. Haven't seen it myself yet, but it's on my list. Style looks similar to Last Exile, which I really recommend.

I've been hoping and hoping that someone would turn LIFE into an anime (they made a really good drama out of it, but it circumvented the scariest part of the manga storyline).
I realise this is more a wishlist of one than an actual recommendation, but it really would be interesting.

For an actual recommendation, I think X is pretty fantastic, but very bloody. It's strange to see gorgeous, shoujo-style detailing on scenes that basically depict the world falling apart..

Oh, sorry about that . Here's a bit of summary I borrowed off wikipedia..it's more or less accurate, except that it leaves out the bit where Kamui's childhood sweetheart is having dreams that he'll cause the end of the world.

The story takes place at the end of days, in the year 1999. The series follows Kamui Shirō, a young esper who returns home to Tokyo after a six-year absence to face his destiny as the one who will determine humanity's fate. The series is intended for a female audience, so X is drawn in the ornate style characteristic of shōjo manga but with the emphasis on moral conflict and gruesome violence expected of seinen works. The story is influenced by the works of Go Nagai and Kyokutei Bakin.
