We hardly even notice it here until it starts to build up in the corners, after the shelties it's really not too bad. I still have sheltie hair stuck on some of my clothes even after multiple washings.

Our dog sometimes bites people when they don't play with it. Last time it screwed up my thumb. Oh, I wanted so much to kill him that it was like Schrodinger's dog. But who could actually do it? It's so cute, the damn thing...

Same here but they don't appear to do much for our cats' hair. It's actually gotten to the point where I'll avoid buying black clothes if I can because it's so easy to spot the hair of our grey cat on anything dark coloured.

My dog likes to eat socks and pegs. He goes nuts if he's not outside when we hang out the washing which is quite annoying.

The other night someone near us was setting off fireworks and my dog HATES them! He managed to open the dog gate and run into the living room and jumped onto the armchair. He wouldn't budge and we couldn't move him because he weighs 9 stone. (He's not overweight, he's just very very big for his breed)

I love Barney, I really do, but today he's been coughing up phlegm on the carpet and then eating it.

I love our puppy, Marcie... BUT, I woke up this morning to a feather tickling my nose. She chewed a hole in our down comforter and feathers were scattered all over the bed.

She is why we can't have nice things... I can't wait until she outgrows this puppy stuff - she just turned 1. *sigh*

Oohh, she's a cutie!!! Unfortunately, my dog is now around 3, and still hasn't outgrown the puppy stuff. He can't help himself, though; he just loves to chew!

Marcie is love!

Wanna trade?

Barney has Kennel Cough, we've been dosing him with Vitamin C and steaming him in the bathroom. He's been keeping me awake with the coughing, but at least the phlegm seems to have gone, for now. *crosses fingers*

Re: My dog ate my homework aka admit to not really liking your pets

Okay, I don't currently own any pets, but my mother-in-law has this dog...
Oh, how I hate this dog.

I didn't always hate her. She is seriously disturbed, and hates everyone. She bites people and barks a lot. I think part of it is that whole small-dog complex thing. She is a little rat dog. But I used to be nice to her, and for some odd reason she has always loved me.
That changed when I had my son.
This dog was and still is so spoiled that she would actually try to bite my baby (now 2 1/2) and she started acting out by peeing everywhere - the couch, the carpet, the rugs, even on beds if she managed to make her way to them. My father-in-law hates the dog, which I find funny. But the dog still likes me. She listens to me, as well. I'm one of the few who will discipline her, and probably the only one who will discipline her that she actually likes, as my mother-in-law pretty much lets her get away with a lot.

I have even had dreams of punting this dog like a football across the yard...

Re: My dog ate my homework aka admit to not really liking your pets

I love my cats, but sometimes they can be a bit of a pain. Especially one of them.

He loves scratching the furniture, so we can't let him in the living room without supervision. Squirting him with water and making him leave the room help short-term, but not long-term. He also loves to chew. He chews on my flip-flops if I leave them out. We have to be careful with Christmas decorations because he'll chew on those, too. One year, he tried to eat a lightbulb off the strand of lights on the tree.

He eats stuff he's not supposed to, so we have to be careful to sweep up so he doesn't get anything. One time, I dropped a small craft feather on the floor while he was sitting there, and in the second or so that it took me to lean down to get it, he'd already eaten in. I also have to be careful knitting when he's around, because he'll sneak up and chew the yarn.

He also has an attitude. When told, however nicely, to do something he doesn't want to do, like get off a piece of furniture, he'll protest loudly (which sounds something like, "EHHH! EEEHHH!"), and will sometimes swat at us (which is usually for show. He likes to act tough and even as he does it, he's usually getting off the furniture or whatever).

Re: My dog ate my homework aka admit to not really liking your pets

Hey, I'm sorry--I just can't admit to not liking my pets. I adore them, love them, and get so much pleasure from them. But...this being said, I have become aware of a new study that may explain some of our behaviour and why we love our pets (namely dogs, in this article--but suspect kittens also have this ability):

ARP article
"Research Shows Puppies Cause Brain Damage"

BERKELEY, CALIF. (ARP) -- A joint research project has been underway at the University of California at Berkeley between the Animal Behavior department, and the Psychology department. The research is providing new insights on what causes people to act strangely around puppies.

"It appears that there is a portion of the canine brain that actually emits, and can focus, an electromagnetic field. This field, especially when focused, can shut down or alter certain areas of the human brain. This seems to be an evolutionary development in canines from close contact and the symbiotic relationship between our two species over thousands of years", explains Dr. Brian Proabe, Ph.D., head of the canine/human mind control project at U. C. Berkeley.

Startling data derived from M.R.I.'s of both human and canine volunteers, and electromagnetic experimentation, now proves why humans will often revert to baby talk, discontinue focus on tasks, and suddenly find dog saliva and foul-smelling, canine puppy breath desirable. Symptoms include glazed over eyes, odd cooing noises and, in more extreme cases, even drooling and loss of verbal skills. Puppy Mind Control, or P. M. C., can also cause victims to think destruction of clothing, furniture and other property to be acceptable, and even adorable, when unaffected humans would find this distressing.

Is there anything we can do to combat P. M. C. ? "Yes", answers Dr. Proabe. "We've found that just a simple thing as aluminum foil can block and reflect these focused electromagnetic waves. All puppy shoppers should wear foil, cranial, protective devices before making decisions. And new puppy owners should be prepared to utilize these cranial devices for the first nine months of close contact with their new puppy. This will allow humans to be able to think clearly, be in control of their own minds, and make decisions concerning their puppy unimpeded by P. M. C.. The foil, cranial devices should also decrease spontaneous puppy purchasers who often purchase a puppy while under the puppy's control, then wonder what happened later. The addition of a foil hat for the puppy itself would be an increased measure of safety."

On a different note, he enjos licking books. Not eating them, licking them. It was so funny when we found that out. We were holding up different books, and he was licking all of them, then I held up Romeo & Juliet, which I had to read for school, and hated, and he turned and walked away. Good dog!!
wow, thats hilarious!

I really hate my fish, they were just so boring! but it was extremely funny because at this buffet, they had a lot of fish and they were really hungry and i stuck my hand in the water, and they just swarmed around my finger and started sucking at them and trying to chew them or something. It felt really really weird! I wish my fish did that, it would be the only interesting thing it ever did.

Re: My dog ate my homework aka admit to not really liking your pets

I love my mandy. She's a toy Shih Tzu. Now mandy is five years old and she still thinks she's a puppy. My mom was helping me move my bed last night so I could vacuum. Well...there were about ten cotton balls all chewed up! If she sees a paper towel on the floor it will automatically be shreaded. When she was a puppy though and less than 5 pounds my fathers tool belt was on the porch and when he went to turn to get something he saw her dragging in into the living room. And that thing weighed more than her!

And then there is Sammy. My older sister's ferret. Well...when my sister gets annoyed with him automatically she will put him on my bed and run to her room. For some odd reason when I have to babysit him I always seem to be doing a paper. He walks on the keyboard and everytime he walks on it while I am online the help screen comes up. He is always biting wires...which scares me. And, he is just so hyper and crazy like he has a sugar high.

Now my older dog just threw up in the dining room.

lol okay well this topic made me me smile a bit today. My bird Tweety Girl passed away during the night...everyone's a mess today. We don't want to spend christmas without her. My mom, I think wants to cancel it. She was a cockateal and ten years old but she was never really healthy. She layed too many eggs and she had this cyst that would fill up and would have to be drained. I think she had enough. She bit me one last time before my mom brought her to the doctors. A good-bye to me.

So sorry about Tweety Girl, MidnighterWitch. It's always so hard to lose a beloved friend, especially one who has been there for so long.

Your other pets all sound very cute.

Re: My dog ate my homework aka admit to not really liking your pets

Well I just started a thread on snakes but this is a good place to rant. My Honduran Milk snake is very big, very strong and very curious. She has a habit of escaping her tank (thank god when we're home!). Just in the past few months she has managed to get inside the couch and wrap herself around the springs, go inside my husbands recliner, squirm in between the barrel and shell of the washing machine, and get under a gas stove. In the case of the couch and the washing machine we tried to pull her out but she is so strong that if we pulled hard enough to get her out we would have hurt her. I've been tempted to trade her for a tamer snake but then she looks at me with her little red eyes (she's an albino) and curls up in my shirt and I just can't let her go....
